everything off the DofE list.
Pretty sure the Tronsmart T6 isn't on that list.
expected to haul 20kg of kit for a Bronze for one night.
Yeah, heavy seems harsh. If mini-rhb ever has to do this she'll be issued with a Lanshan-1 tent, PHD bag, and barebones 22g meths stove all to be carried in her jacket pockets.
And why Kinder?
Because it is slightly less harrowing than Bleaklow?

My daughter didn't do her bronze DofE last year because of lockdown but if she had done so the tent, stove etc were to be supplied by the expedition company that provides some training and supervision (from afar, GPS tracker).
The current plan is to do the two day expedition this summer but without the overnight bit, parents expected to take them home to bed and bring them back in the morning. We don't really see the point. Also refunds not available.
Edit: s/last year/last school year/

The above makes me feel like I've woken up in 2021. Confusing.

That's the neck of the woods I did my DofE gold in 20 odd years ago (plus the Lakes, we varied between the two). My bag was half the size of most of the others, I remember one girl had actually packed hair straighteners.

DofE pocket tool......or a blunt tipped knife.

My son started DofE bronze with his school having been in Scouting for years. He was quite scathing about the quality of training, I was a bit scathing about the cost.

I guess this means the kids will have the recommended kit at least, even if it weighs a tonne. Must be chaos on day 1 parent drop off kit check otherwise.

Ftfy?

That sucks.

It's a great idea but my daughter tells me the fun is camping with her mates and if we were caught camping as a larger group I expect she would be chucked off. She has camped countless times with me and doesn't think the idea of doing another night with me is especially interesting. Blooming kids growing up.
Pleasingly she is planning an independent camping trip with her mates for when things go back to normal.

This is what we used to do to smoke weed all night.

There's some inappropriate and appropriate hill-naming, all at once.

I had to leave The Range the other day. The tannoy was playing a truly teeth-grinding cover of the BandAid Christmas jingle.
“It’s Christmas time......”
No it flipping isn’t, not for another month!
Next year I think I’m going to celebrate my birthday every day for 6 weeks and see how long it is before people want to see me crucified. -

Look on the bright side, only six more weeks till you'll be able to get hot cross buns

Planet X gear mech hangers, I know they’re a sacrificial part but a bike toppling over is not a big off. Very poor design with a bolt hole in a really weak point

Just looked at the grain in that hanger. Is it polystyrene?

Hate to tell you, but Lidl now sell hot cross buns all year round... bought some yesterday.

CadburysKraft Creme Eggs too. -

Except my local one ran out the day before. In fact they haven’t been doing well recently; no tinned sweetcorn, chicken or veg soup, tomato purée or wraps. And not just for the odd day or two either.

Disgraceful! What is the (first) World coming to? A snotty email should be sent to their board of directors and copied to your MP immediately.

agree, they should be nailed up on a cross

You should do a short rap on TikTok showing how angry you are.

The previous week all they had were cut flowers, salsa and toilet paper. I told the manager they were all a bunch of dipshits.

Fuckstains that put any old shit into the split recycling bins. Makes me wasting my time sorting my stuff out seem fucking pointless and if I catch you I will set you on fire and put you in the organic waste bin (sans clothes obvs).
To be honest they are fucked school kids whose middle class parents have bought them everything off the DofE list. Then expected to haul 20kg of kit for a Bronze for one night.
And why Kinder? A fucking awful walk over boot sucking peat bogs. Just because Victorians did a mass trespass doesn't make it a fun place to visit.
