WTD: 1 1/8" steer tube off cuts

  • If you've cut down a steer tube (carbon or alloy) and still have the off cut can I have it?
I need at least 20mm but will take any length over that

    Thanks!

  • Got a whole pair of forks for free in sw11

  • What you making .is it a shim.

  • Thanks, if I’ve not got anything by the weekend I’ll grab these if I may.

  • I need to add ~20mm to a steer tube for a total stack height of 75mm. Have got a 90mm expander plug that I’m guessing would hold an additional 20mm piece as well quite firmly

  • Think safety 1st.

  • thanks to @Jeromeo I got some forks I could scavenge!
extended steerer by 15mm as below using 90mm expander bung...
I think this is safe...as safe as a quil stem, plus has the added safety of the retainer bolt on the stem I'm using...a tall stack stem with a single bolt at the bottom, which will clamp on the original steerer anyway (so not stem bolt on the piece of extended steer tube).
