You'll wear out the knobbly tires and the drivetrain pretty fast commuting on that.

Tyres are easily swapped, but I don't get the drivetrain wear part. Won't you wear out the drivetrain at the same rate as any other bike you commute on?

Expose to the same elements I guess rather than all drivetrain get the same amount of wear.

the same elements

Epic adventures: sand, mountain spring water, hailstones, sweat & tears
Commute adventures: grit, piss, pepsi, chicken nuggets, snot
