• ahh, if my memory has been jogged sufficiently, you had a really tidy, well sorted NA or NB MX5 previously; correct?
If the Boxter/MR2 don't get you going I can understand that. 944's have been dragged up with the prices of 911's going bonkers. I love MGB's/BGTs but I'd just worry that getting a nice, solid example might be hard given your budget and making a nice car out of a rough one will break your heart and your wallet. Sports and classic cars shouldnt always make sense though. If I was going for something like that I'd probably go for a Midget/Healey Sprite as I always like the size of them. Then again, a cursory glance on car and classic makes me think this > https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1283177 could be a load of fun...
Maybe I'm the person to take any advice from.

  • Yep that's me, although the car probably looked better in photos. Personally I enjoy the tinkering and learning just as much as driving and after years of wanting and saving I now have a garage so keen to get a long-term project. Maybe I've watched too much car pervert and hubnut but have a hunch buying an already fast modern-ish car wouldn't be enough. I'll keep my eyes peeled the next few months and do some soul searching.
