Has anyone got tips for sharpening scissors with a stone? I had a go at sorting out the hair dressing scissors my girlfriend has earlier and they're noticeably sharper than when I started but still not great.

I’m after some advice please.
I want a couple of good quality kitchen knives for general use and that will last me years. They don’t need to be beautiful artisan knives, but easy to look after and well made.
I’ve been looking at these two options -
https://www.procook.co.uk/product/procook-x100-vg10-damascus-knife-set-2-piece-chef
and
https://www.knivesfromjapan.co.uk/knives-c1/knife-sets-c13/kasumi-damascus-2-piece-knife-set-p1005
The first option as well as being slightly cheaper also comes with another santoku knife free.
Not really a knife porn post, sorry, but not sure what I should be looking for.
Thanks.

Not that style but I've got a procook bread knife and it's really good, can't fault the build quality.
I can't open the 2nd link for some reason (possibly work-laptop based restrictions) but if you're into Japanese knives & in London Kataba in Covent Garden/Tottenham Court road is a great shop to browse in, very knowledgeable staff.

I got a cheap folder by them in the summer, it is OK but not the sharpest out the box.

Victorinox Fibrox
This one is a bargain, bread slicing got so much easier once it arrived.

Depending on the scissors, you will probably need to work the whole of the flat side and the bevel side of the blade, then remove the burrs. Because of this your stones will need to be super flat, or use a large and high quality diamond stone.

Japanesechefsknife.com have got a sale on, not huge savings unless you buy a high end knife but I finally bought a Nakiri to replace the cheap one I had years ago.. Nice and simple, inexpensive, stainless steel blade... Looking forward to using this, definitely my favourite and most comfortable-to-use blade shape...

I totally missed this reply, thanks! My stone is definitely not super flat. This might be the motivation I need to finally sort it out!

Victorinox Fibrox:
My favourite thing about the Fibrox knives is how well they sharpen and keep an edge. Ours are typically shaving sharp if I keep on top of them.

I’m a fan of those large DMT diamond plates you can get from Axminster. Not cheap, but they save a lot of time otherwise spent flattening.

There are a couple of handle designs, I prefer the rounded chunky ones, compared to the ones with a concave shape to them.

They look smashing! Cheap enough to take a punt on one of those nice Sprint EDC ones I reckon!

Cleaned up the blade of my Dads 1950’s scouting knife to use as a Sgian Dubh with my kilt when I got married.
He absolutely loved the thing and so nice to have it with me on the day.

Recently had this made up by Stuart Mitchell for my dad’s 60th.
The pattern is based on one of his (Stuart) parents’ old designs, which I though a fitting touch. 3” blade, 4.5” handle.Odin’s Eye damasteel, just to be fancy and look nice more than anything else, and a cocobolo handle.
Excuse the bit of debris on the very tip of the blade.
