So are the Rotor ones.

I have a cheap BSA to BB30 AliExpress special. Knock the bearings out and press new ones for cheap maintenance, tough the BB itself was like £8.

Only two continents a year?

Decent bearings aren't cheap
4 x SKF 618062RS1 Rubber Sealed Thin Section Deep Groove Ball Bearing 30x42x7mm (61806-2RS1-SKF) = £75.28

Enduros are about £10, but I salvage plenty of BB30 bearings at work.

When I bought those they were the only option.
-

Not that bad of a price considering SFK is quality and most times is only one side you need to replace.
-
• #7810
I guess I was annoyed having already replaced Rotor ones a few times and they were loads more expensive than more common wheel bearings. I didn't understand why stuff was wearing out quick even though on the face of it I was doing some people's yearly mileage in a month.

lol
some continents are just like that I guess.
I think Kent and Surrey count as a continents as well so I'm no slouch either. -

This is interesting - kit to allow SRAM 11 speed shifters to work with eagle 12 speed derailleurs:

Interesting, so you could run something like this: https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/ZXGBAPXLEVPP/sram-apex-1-hrd-hydraulic-post-mount-disc-brake-calipers--shifters-pair but 12 speed?

One more quick question about Rotor stuff: do the 2D chainsets have separate spiders or is that only the 3D / 3D+ (and the current range I think).
I'm thinking of keeping my options open to run a 110/74 bcd spider for lower gearing but not sure that's possible with 2D.

Friend has Ultegra 6800 setup and wants lower gears. 53/39 x 28T currently.
Ultegra 6800 cable RD, short cage version, what's the biggest cassette peeps have run?
Can you buy a longer cage for these or is it easier to just buy a long cage RD?
Anyone selling or best place to get Compact rings for 6800 cranks?

Think there was something in the Classifieds
Can you buy a longer cage for these or is it easier to just buy a long cage RD?
A good second hand 6800GS will probably cost you £20 these days

I think 28t is official max on the short cage mech, a 30t might work. Any Shimano 11sp road long cage rear mech will work with the shifters afaik.
TA or Stronglight do rings. It’ll cost as much as a chainset though. Because there are a bunch from Shimano chainsets to choose from that’s probably easiest. Shimano rings are good.
... um ... I actually have one of these (170mm) to flog. I did ~ 600km on it then had a problem with that frame.

I wonder if fitting a Wolftooth type hanger extender is better/easier/cheaper than trying to source a GS cage replacement? A whole RD costs £50 but that's still £50. I'm looking for cheapest option.
Shimano 105 R7000 cassette comes in 30T flavour

Anything more then 34/28 you might as well walk.
-
• #7823
If he don’t like walking 1 x 34 works with short cage.
-
• #7824
Neither of those two things are going to happen.
Options now are:
- 30T or 32T cassette + GS cage or GS cage RD or Wolftooth knockoff
- Compact chainrings

Wolftooth type hanger extender
I’ve never actually done it and don’t think I know anyone running one 2x.
Looks like it has a wire to me. The FD looks the same too. Plus, rumours about Di2 wireless have been around since it first came out.
