Nice one thanks!

I just refused service to some Freeman of the land type who seemed to just come in to be a cunt about wearing a mask. He says he’s going to take legal action. I’ve got nothing to worry about right?
-

Nah, we've had a few at my workplace, including one who started licking things unbelievably.
At the end of the day, it's your premises your rules. You don't have to serve anyone you don't want to legally.

Brilliant, thank you. We don’t often encounter proper dickheads like that, rattled me a bit.
-

Also, its government guidance to wear a mask when in enclosed spaces. So maybe you should counter sue him!

I've seen this sort of thing spoken about a few times, mainly about shops not accepting cash payments during lockdown. There's no obligation to sell to someone if you don't want to

With the qualifier that you can't refuse service based on sex, race, disability, gender, sexual orientation, religion or belief.
Maybe the crackpot could claim that their mask objection constitutes a belief, but nah. They can do one.
IANAL though.

FFS WAC. He deffo won't take legal action. If someone won a case about their right to service without a mask on I reckon it would be very widely reported as it would set a strong precedent. Hardly different to a bouncer saying "you can't come in wearing that" etc.

Thanks all
@TW Discrimination against his right to choose not to wear a mask of something like that was what he said. Didn’t strike me as anything so weighty as race, gender etc. Such a twat, he’s probably had 5 run-ins like that just today, why would people generate needless stress like this?

Discrimination against his right to choose not to wear a mask
I mean, he's right - You are discriminating against him wearing a mask.
But that's your right as the proprietor, and as being an idiot is not a protected class, he's shit out of luck.
why
People. It's why I stay at home.

If he's just arguing the toss he can get to fuck. He may have an official exemption, which if explained to you then you are obliged to accept.

P.s. excited to be getting more coffee tins, they'll be like the 21st century Golden Virginia tins of old.

Been drinking the Round Hill unit 14 coffee this week, took a couple of goes to dial in and been pretty consistent since.

Anyone tried the 5 rings coffee from Callum and friends?

"It could be worse" is a very 2020 motto..

Given the v60 brew guide they published, you'd be mad to buy it. Shocking.

In all seriousness, it's the same price as really good coffee from really good people who have been at this for years. I don't see the point, personally. They don't disclose anything about where the coffee is roasted or how it's roasted, so I can only assume they're repackaging other people's coffee as their own. Obviously total speculation, though.
'Three Olympic champions with passion for coffee, this is our new journey, join us for the ride.'... ooookkaaaayyy? Or I could buy coffee from people who have been passionately working in coffee for decades and aren't treating coffee as a side-hustle. Just my 2p...
Good luck to them, obviously, but.. yeah... not for me.

Skip it then although Callum made a great brew in Harrogate last year.

• #19496
I’ll be happy when I see someone rolling up a fun one from one of the tins.

Any recommendations for a good stove top maker? Needs to be induction friendly and ideally stainless. Also cool looking 😜
-
• #19498
I like the Top Moka ones, still actually Italian made. They're aluminum but have a steel insert for induction purposes.

Being a dickhead is not a protected characteristic: https://www.gov.uk/discrimination-your-rights
Tell him your beans are washed in the same stuff chemtrails are made of.
TBH this was my immediate thought. Although less than a pound's worth of spares is hardly a drastic repair.
