  • I don't need to take it out, and you don't either. The wheel only comes out when the tyre is deflated, but that is fine because the only time I need to take the rear wheel out is when there is a puncture. Then I patch it, give a tiny bit of air, squeeze it back in and then finish filling it with air in situ.

Which means you could make your rear guard even more #tukt

  • Ok. That just means getting in the habit of pumping it up when wheel is mounted in the frame. I normally don't like that because if you didn't fix it properly or your replaced inner tube is faulty you need to start all over.

  • If you use SKS mudguards you can use their “secu-clips” (that normally only come with their front mudguards as a security measure against snagging something) as a quick release. This is what I have done on Purplebob™️. It is not sexy but this is not necessarily the sexy bike thread.

  • That's a good point. I don't get rear punctures that often though and I appreciate the look of having it close in. As it's a track bike and has no eyelets there is no fuckin way I'm adjusting the rear guard for a puncture.

    A puncture lasts a few minutes. A #tukt guard lasts a lifetime.
