Nice bike.
How do you get the rear wheel out. Is the mudguard stays with some sort of quick release?
I am thinking about making something I don't like my current "mudguard line".

How do you get the rear wheel out
Doesn't help for pulling the wheel out but you could use a spring to help you push the wheel forward to release the chain

are those Paselas 32s?
Yup, which is a little tight, don’t think it can go bigger with the rear brake bridge like that.

I don't need to take it out, and you don't either. The wheel only comes out when the tyre is deflated, but that is fine because the only time I need to take the rear wheel out is when there is a puncture. Then I patch it, give a tiny bit of air, squeeze it back in and then finish filling it with air in situ.
Which means you could make your rear guard even more #tukt

Ok. That just means getting in the habit of pumping it up when wheel is mounted in the frame. I normally don't like that because if you didn't fix it properly or your replaced inner tube is faulty you need to start all over.

• #1296
Aha that's not a problem as I am all the way back in dropouts

Shame Brother didn't spec it to take bigger, what with current supple tyre trends. I had a 2011 Day One, easily ran 32s and guards, one of the only bikes I regret selling, but I work with the guy I sold it to, so fingers crossed, it may make a return.

The event of a (rear) flat is so rare, is it too much trouble to just undo/loosen the mudguard stays?
I would prioritize a good mudguard line over being able to remove the rear wheel easily.

The brake bridge sit too low pushing the mudguard too close to the wheel, not particularly well design sadly.
What’s the clearance like at the seattube?
I looked at the All Day geo when I was designing the all road fixed frame I built my mate and it seemed like the seattube clearance wasn’t great. I was able to build him something that could (just) fit a 43mm tyre all the way forward in the track end with track chainline/120mm spacing and only the slightest of dent required in an otherwise off the shelf Columbus chainstay to clear the crank spider and still a sensible chainstay length.
Seemed to me like Brother could have easily specced the All Day to have better clearance.

Nice bike Ed. Forward facing dropouts might have made more sense on the Brother but still decent. Can you sleep in that framebag without your toes sticking out?
That new Day One looks utterly horrible. I’ve owned heavy singlespeed/fixed bikes before and they belong in a canal. Do not want.
That was on order, ETA was February but it’s here already.
I provisionally ordered it in case I don’t get on with the Brother!
It got a kickstand mount too.
