  • I've been doing research lately to double my bike collection by adding a good mid-range road bike to the stable. I'd like to buy new, and somewhere sub £2k (ish) range. I have a few criteria or preferences, but am open to being told either of these are silly or pointless, and open to other considerations. I'm basically looking around for options that offer a well rounded package (no entry level carbon frame with Claris groupset), and that offer the best value and 'bang for buck'.

Here's a few of my shortlisted candidates, with approximated price:

BMC Teammachine ALR One 105 (£1,400)
BMC Teammachine ALR Two 105 Disc (£1,900)
    Cannondale Caad13 105 (£1,600)
    Cannondale Caad13 Ultegra (£1,900)
    Cannondale Caad13 105 Disc (£2,000)
    Bianchi Sprint 105 (£2,000)
    Bianchi Sprint Ultegra (£2,200)
Specialized Allez Sprint 105 Disc (£2,200)

The two Bianchis are carbon frames, all the others are aluminium, but I'm not considering frame material very important. I'm also not sure if disc brakes are worth the investment in this category, but would love an Ultegra groupset. Aesthetically I am not too fussed, although I definitely prefer the horizontal top tube on the BMCs and the Cannondales. My two favourites so far are the BMC ALR One because of the price, and the Caad13 Ultegra beause of the Ultegra groupset.

Any other suggestions I should check out?
