My daughter didn't do her bronze DofE last year because of lockdown but if she had done so the tent, stove etc were to be supplied by the expedition company that provides some training and supervision (from afar, GPS tracker).
The current plan is to do the two day expedition this summer but without the overnight bit, parents expected to take them home to bed and bring them back in the morning. We don't really see the point. Also refunds not available.

I guess this means the kids will have the recommended kit at least, even if it weighs a tonne. Must be chaos on day 1 parent drop off kit check otherwise.

Yeah, heavy seems harsh. If mini-rhb ever has to do this she'll be issued with a Lanshan-1 tent, PHD bag, and barebones 22g meths stove all to be carried in her jacket pockets.
Because it is slightly less harrowing than Bleaklow?
