Is it 530 buttons only, 830 touch only?
Essentially, yes. The 830 has buttons, but the UI is primarily touch-screen driven.
I get the point of panning the map with a touch screen, but with things like RWGPS/Komoot on your phone you can always do that on your phone quickly, save a route and sync it across, no?
Indeed. The prospect of trying to plan a route on the Garmin itself doesn't strike me as attractive in any way. Quite apart from the fact that the Garmin routing varies from poor to dreadful.

530 is pretty bombproof.
I do miss the touch screen sometimes. But then I remember the headache the touch screen causes when it gets wet... so i dont miss it. Panning maps on 530 is possible but slow and shitty.
And yes I can plan on rwgps on my mobile and itll get pushed over to the garmin automatically via bluetooth. So re routing or so is easy. Or just use my phone sometimes with navigation via rwgps and mounted on bars.
