It's taken me the best part of a month to get our Cocker to drop the ball to continue playing.
Spaniels always want to trade - So we started carrying two balls and only throwing the second one when she dropped the first. Yesterday we didn't need the second ball anymore, out of nowhere! SO pleased.

Our lad loves this (the little tosser). Drops it, waits until you bend down to pick it up, whips it away and runs off a few yards. Ignoring him and walking off works. Poodles are cheeky f-ckers sometimes.

my little shitbag has finally realised how much fun it is to play "no take, only throw" and started jerking his head back and jumping back while simultaneously trying to get you to interact/play with him when he has a ball.
it's annoying as fuck but unfortunately the fucker also manages to make it really endearing as he is very clearly playing and not just being a possessive dick about it.
