  • Sure, its equipped with 3x9 XT shifting and magura louise brakes. Sram levers are still in transit anyway (if not lost aready #covid), so for now I will start with a cleaning and basic service.

  • @gonnok how’s that sick warrior of yours?!

  • Still hanging on the wall, in it's own flat. I dust it every couple of month, clean and re-lube the chain, and wonder how I could ever daily-drive it. I've got soft with all these shifters, brakes, and wide supple tires...

  • Pickenflick is gone. I think I had this bike the longest time (apart from the Duell, so the one I've actually used). In search of something similar, but lower tier.
Parts for the Cube are delayed. BikeComponents estimated the delivery to 28th of August... And seems the 2x10 Force brifters are lost in transit (among with some car parts, quite a pricey loss).

  • Picked this up for a bargain. May or may not will be a keeper. I was planning something more of a downgrade.

  • This is gonna be interesting. Too bad that neither the lockout, nor the dropper levers wont fit the road bars. I'll try to get a dropper with reversed cable routing, and actuate it with the left Sram lever.

  • Would one of these let you use your current dropper with the left lever?

  • Please stop

  • Sort-of finished the Cube. Cartridge in the dropper is probably blown, does not hold my not-so heavy backside, so it is rigid for now. Got a Monacrh RT3 for bargain as the old Fox was way too pricey to service.

The bike is... well interesting. Will go on a proper (idk what is really proper for this) maiden ride on Wednesday.

Also fit a new bike rack on the van, I'll take the Cube to the climbing trip to the Austrian and Swiss alps next month. Will need some DIY fine tuning tho.

  • Okay, so the fully drop bar bike thing is over. Who knew?...
I know, I know - but is was fun, and I could make sure that MTB is still not my cup of tea.

Next: n+1 cheapo bike project, shall be the winter / rain / groceries workhorse. Will try not to overbuild it this time.

  • Royal 3 + Lauf Grit?

  • Actually... I had a weak moment seeing a Lauf Grit listed here for bargain. But luckily been sold soon after. I was toying with the idea for the Bombtrack Hook EXT based build I bought from @Ifonlyiwerebelgian (and this one is supposed to be the n+1 'gonnabethebikeheretostay')

As for the budget build, its an old 26" rigid mtb, disc brake mounts welded on, decent 9 spd deore groupo and BB7 brakes. Put on the Billy Bonkers (cus' sidewalls, duh) and will get some wide gull-wing bars and a front loader or rack of some sort.
Firs hit already taken, due to the DIY brake mounts, the standard fenders cannot be secured, gonna need clip-on's or something.

  • Crappy stairwell photo.
Will get some P clamps for the mudguards, fancy colored dildo grips, a longer stem, and call it ready.

  • After days of sanding the Bombtrack, finally painted it during the weekend. I was planning something neat and Rapha inspired, with straight lines and stuff. Well, did not work out too good, so gone mad and ended up something that Jackson Pollock would have done. But actually I like it a lot.
Hopefully It shall be built up Wednesday. Parts list:
650b wheelset - DT350/Hope4 hubs, XM401 rims, Maxxis tread lites in size 2.1)
Sram Force cranks, Stone 38T oval chainring, Ztto 9-50 11s cassette, Force 1 mech with a GX cage
Sram Force mechanical levers, Spyre flatmount caliper
46cm Venturemax bars, procraft 0 offset post, and the trusty Spesh Power
Oh and the same type Hylix carbon forks that I used in the Pickenflick after ditching the Lauf.

  • So I need another lower headset bearing, did not check and angles are mismatch... Bit over 10kg, yet is feels super light compared to the winter bike I've been using for the last 5 months or so.

  • I kinda like it! Maybe it could use a bit more gradient on the pink to black area but nicely done

  • Its been almost 2 months since my last build, so here we go again:
Bought a Trek Fx 7. something with a Rohloff hub. Also bought a Csepel Woodlans expert build (pretty much a Ritchey P29 copy with sliding dropouts). Latter is size S (16,5"), and will fit the Missus, whos got only a single speed which is fine for the city, but lately she's been interested in touring. Ordered a chinese carbon rigid fork, and trying to figure out the handlebars. Jonas H loops? Bullmoose?
So far pretty much everything is being stripped down, will rebuild the Trek with the leftovers from the 29er and sell it. Also due to space issues the winter bike is up for sale.

  • Okay so I've lost it again with the build. Ordered Gates CDX drivetrain (46/22T). For that I needed to get the frame customized with a split seatstay. Then I also ordered a Lauf TR Boost forks, and turns out the frame had "campy" full integrated straight hedset. So while at it, I've asked the shop to swap the headtube as well to fit EC44 cups... Bought cheapo carbon risers for starter, and I'll also need a boost spaced front wheel. Hope to finish the build by end of July.

  • We need pics!

  • Got back the frame from painting. Biro Ica and Friends presenting the current state.

Fork is arriving next week, then I only need to pick a boost front wheel. First I'll hack it together with a chain , as the rear CDX sprocket has been shipped only last Friday, 3.5 weeks after payment...
