• I’m sure I’m just being stupid, but can’t work out the answer.

Wife is a teacher, and has developed a cold, so has some of the symptoms in a borderline fashion, however to be sure she has booked a test for today. We are obviously keeping our daughter out of school today as well, my question is, if my wife’s test comes back negative, can my daughter go back to school, the refs seem really unclear on this, I can read it both ways?

  • I think your daughter can go back to school if your wife tests negative.

Which I think is stupid because your wife could have had a bad test, a false negative or not be shedding enough virus to test positive yet (although I understand that is unlikely if she has symptoms). Other parts of the world require 2 negative tests a few days apart.

  • Yes, I'm pretty comfortable that she hasn't actually got it, but we are erring on the side of caution as she is a teacher.

Thanks, that makes me feel better, that daughter could go back if we get a negative, now just to see how long the result takes to come back.
