• Holdsworth Special frame and fork - New Tange headset and new 27.2 seatpost fitted.
    Great winter bike!
    Reynolds 531
    56cm seatpost ctc
    57cm top tube ctc
    27.2 seatpost
126mm rear spacing, but used with 130mm wheels no problem.

The Holdworth special was designed to be good for the club racer and training - eyelets and room for mudguards, with 73 degree angles. This rides really nicely. Comfortable without feeling lazy.
I bought this as a perfect winter bike from Hilary stone and did a long ride across yorkshire - I added eyelets on the seatstays for this. We carried alot of weight on the rear rack and the eyelets are secure and safe.
It was originally red and needed a respray. I sprayed it using primers, solvent base and 2K automotive clear. It was a 95% perfect job with decals under the clear, and since has a few marks and a tiny tiny ding in the top tube - very small and hardly noticeable.

Selling as I have too many bikes and this has been hung on the wall for 2 years, plus I could do with the money of course!

    £145ono
Collection from Leytonstone or work in Harlow, Essex.
    Thanks
    Sam

  • Do you know what the frame material is?

  • These are made with Reynolds 531 double butted tubing. I believe the drop outs are Campagnolo.
They were a £135 for the frameset in 1981
There are lots of examples in google images. They build up to a nice bike :)

  • Hmm. Do I need another Holdsworth? It would make an excellent commuter. I could retire the Dave Yates. And it’s very lovely. Hnnggg.

  • Ha. Use it for the winter and sell in 6 months. You'll get your money back, more, or worst case loose £20.
Mudguard eyelets always handy this time of year. Hard sell. Ha.

Picture just after I sprayed it.

  • It is cool. How did fix the rack eyelets, are they bonded in?

  • They are rivnuts, riveted and also bonded in.
I decided I wanted eyelets after I had painted it. I was 50/50 if they would be ok, but I rode coast to coast in Yorkshire with a FULLY loaded rack on there and it's fine. I'm 78kg. Now I wouldn't have any hesitations using it like this myself.
I'd take £120 lowest offer as it is.

  • Seen this is the flesh its very lovely. GLWS

  • Yes please - I’ll have it @£120 - I’ve PMd you
