• circa 1975 Motobecane Monaco Touring bike

This was a donation to the Bikes For NHS scheme, but after replacing the tyres and test riding, I realised it's not an ideal commuter bike. Most of the people coming to me for a bike are fairly new to cycling, or used to more modern shifting and riding position, and mostly too small for this. This is a mint collectors item, and will help fund replacement wheels etc for the bikes I have in the shop.

Measures 58cm TT and ST centre to centre
Running nearly new tan wall panaracer gravelkings
Includes lovely original handlebar bag, toolkit and puncture kit
And an old odometer, showing 1884 miles, which I removed as the tiny elastic drive belt was broken
Everything is original apart from the tyres which had disintegrated, and rear derailleur cable which had siezed.
    £380 or best offer

Viewing Welcomed at Thames Side Studios, Warspite Road, SE18 5NR. Collection preferred.

That's exactly it, a spacer. Adjustable to help centre the wheel I think. did not look like it had ever been moved since first installation, and I didnt try to move it. Wheels sit centered and solid in the frame.

  • still selling this?

  • Vitus 888 was a plain gauge tubing, the tubes of the main triangle being 0.8mm thick. Not top end, but quite alright. I rode a Vitus 888-tubed Motobecane to some decent enough rides as a schoolboy. Rather fond of it. GLWS.
