  • My Pearson Carbon Audax Pro frame went creaky around the bottom bracket a while back so I retired it.

It was secondhand when I got it and already fairly well used, and only cost me about £300 once I'd sold off the bits that came with it. Then I did 12,000km on it, so I feel like I've had my value for money.

I don't think it's worth repairing, so is it a case of take it down the tip? Is there anything less wasteful I could do with it? I'm not going to hang it on a wall or anything like that, it's not beautiful and that's not really my vibe...

  • Offer it up to the frame builders forum? But be useful for people to cut up and test their welding on?

  • The age of that thread is scary AF.

What have I done with my life?

  • If you use an indoor trainer, you could slap on a load of carbon around the BB and use it as a dedicated turbo trainer frame. That's what I did with an old carbon frame which had quite major damage to one of the chainstays. Reinforced the damaged area with UD carbon tape, and relegated it to Zwift/Sufferfest duties.
