  • Lots of mink farms out there, and the virus seems to have mutated a bit quicker than expected. Could be a worrying development.

  • There appears to be a new mutation in Scotland as well with potential consequences on future treatments:

  • I don’t think I’m ready to entertain this idea yet... what a nightmare...it’s making me feel a creeping dread mixed with anxiety. I had assumed we would be ok once a vaccine was found but the picture is so much more complicated.

  • Stoke Newington Church St, midday today. FFS.

    Who took the video?

  • Seems it is more complicated but a vaccine would still be a massive gain, and it could possibly allow us to start from just a few novel cases and with better preparations. Keep optimistic.

  • Anyone knows how exactly is the covid test samples delivered other having the sample packages physically delivered to the lab?

I took a COVID test on 5 Nov and posted it the same afternoon, within 4 mins, it successfully made its way from London to Glasgow.

Something doesn’t sound right if I am honest.

  • And I just refreshed my inbox, literally straight after I tracked it and I got the result. It is a bit spooky...

  • Delivered by London Mail Centre probably stands for now on the way to the train in a van.

  • It makes sense... maybe a van sweeping up all the samples along the way or sth...

  • I’m sure I’m just being stupid, but can’t work out the answer.

Wife is a teacher, and has developed a cold, so has some of the symptoms in a borderline fashion, however to be sure she has booked a test for today. We are obviously keeping our daughter out of school today as well, my question is, if my wife’s test comes back negative, can my daughter go back to school, the refs seem really unclear on this, I can read it both ways?

  • Pretty sure that's a yes.

Think the confusion is if your wife tests positive then close contacts still have to isolate even if they have a negative test.

  • Yes, if she gets a positive then its clear we all have to self isolate (fine for me, sucks for the 5 year old!)

So you read it as, if she gets a -ve then everyone can come out of isolation?

  • Oh great, are are back to 'I was in X place today, look at all these irresponsible people in the same place I also went to'

  • I think your daughter can go back to school if your wife tests negative.

Which I think is stupid because your wife could have had a bad test, a false negative or not be shedding enough virus to test positive yet (although I understand that is unlikely if she has symptoms). Other parts of the world require 2 negative tests a few days apart.

  • Yes, I'm pretty comfortable that she hasn't actually got it, but we are erring on the side of caution as she is a teacher.

Thanks, that makes me feel better, that daughter could go back if we get a negative, now just to see how long the result takes to come back.

  • That's how I read it too. You are isolating your daughter based on you thinking your wife's symptoms are Covid. If the test shows they are not, then there is no other reason to isolate your daughter. Except for the potential of a false negative, but what are you going to do.

  • Phew!

Was just imagining a world where the parent is allowed to go back to work, but the child can't... mayhem!

  • If your wife test positive then she could be back at work in 11 days while your daughter needs to isolate for 14 days so that is quite possible...

  • Literally... People sat in traffic complaining about the traffic. You are the traffic too, lad.

  • yeah that's what i took away from that vid as well.

    weird flex.

  • Phew!

Your wife isn’t being self isolated due to being in close contact with a positive person.

  • I thought this might have kicked off by now but - nuffink
