I like it round there. My mum lived there for a while and around Dorking before. Train is super quick to town, always get Reigate and Redhill mixed up one is much nicer?

Reigate.

Who on earth needs this many sofas? I count 13, plus arm chairs and a window seat.
-
• #38407
That's amazing. I think it might be more than that

You are right, there are three more in the conservatory.
Edit, and another in the 'office'. -

Are MDF skirting boards ok or should I pony up for pine?
-
• #38410
I suspect this is the wrong answer, but I would take MDF having recently had problems with pine skirting warping between purchase and installation.
I'd read this was an issue, deliberately picked the straightest pieces I could find (some were already warped) and they still ended up looking a bit crap.
That might just be B&Q though.

You won’t tell once they’re painted. Also easier to glue on. Horrible to cut though.

Raw MDF is a right ballache to paint too

Dipped MDF then paint your own top coat

MDF everywhere, especially if you can get it pre-primed. Only place we have used pine is where it hasn’t been painted or has potential to get wet, pine is a pain to use, had to reject literally half the boards we were sent.

Primed mdf for sure

Another vote for MDF. Do your background checks on the sellers if you shop online though. There are some terrible suppliers in the sector.
Of course primed too.

Any recommendations?

We used MDF too, so much moisture in the plaster thought pine would warp as the plaster slowly dried out
Picked up some from Travis Perkins locally drove home with these huge bendy skirting boards wobbling on my car but they survived and happily in place now -

Have a viewing booked for next Saturday, the house kinda faces the wrong way though so it's a wild card really.

I had what seemed to be sciatica at the end of July and I've been slowly recovering but still having issues with it. Waiting on the result of an MRI but the last time I spoke to a physio I was told not to ride for longer than twenty minutes at a time :/
(I did a two hour ride yesterday because I'm a bad patient mind - an hour of yoga too though).

Thanks for all the love for the feature. It's been a bit mad. Still catching up on messages from people I know who saw it and got in touch, including old work colleagues etc. That Instagram account sure has some reach!

Why are you looking?! Stop looking!

Yes it’s a good area. Miles of countryside and hills! I had a gf in Dorking in the 80s when I was a kid and it was good to go between the 2 towns, similar but quite different in many ways. Redhill is another story..
