I commute on 11-36 with. A 38t chainring, quite a nice jump inbetween gears.
I bet that’s great around London but a bit spinning at the top? I ran 44 x 11-36 for quite a while and it was ok but a bit of a drag up the hills of Leeds also spinny above 24mph.
38/11 is literally 24mph at a steady 90rpm.
Maybe leave the mashing to potatoes instead?
