  • Who the f*ck is counting at that pace??? A single ballot in two hours...

  • FRAUD! Biden got 100% of the ballots in that block! What are the chances of that!

  • It's not the blue states I'm talking about, more the Red ones. Why has Alaska / North Carolina not been called when it appears there is no way back for Biden here?

Also - generally what are Alaska doing? Do they bring the votes in by sled?

  • A county with a single voter - are we talking rotten boroughs and 17th century English politics?

  • Would both not have failed like the impeachment of Trump due to lack of Republican support?

Looks there was a vote on the War powers resolution, it failed.

On January 4, 2020, the White House officially notified Congress that it had carried out a fatal drone strike against Iranian General Qasem Soleimani a day earlier. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that the entire document was classified and that it "raises more questions than it answers." Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he would set up a classified briefing for all senators.[41]

Senator Tim Kaine (D–VA) had already introduced a resolution to prevent the U.S. Armed Forces or any part of the government to use hostilities against Iran.[42][43] Senator Bernie Sanders (I–VT) and Representative Ro Khanna (D–CA) introduced an anti-funding resolution, also on January 3.[44]

The Trump Administration stated that the attack on Qasem Soleimani was carried out in accordance with the War Powers Resolution under the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) resolution of 2001. The legalities of using the AUMF for endless conflicts has been a source of debate.

On February 13, 2020, the Senate passed a similar legally-binding privileged resolution by a vote of 55-45. Trump vetoed the Senate resolution on May 6, 2020, stating the resolution mistakenly "implies that the president’s constitutional authority to use military force is limited to defense of the United States and its forces against imminent attack." Kaine stated Trump's veto could enable "endless wars" and "unnecessary war in the Middle East".[45]

And yes would have preferred Bernie, but isn't he also a "career politician"? ;)

  • I reckon someones been going through the rejected pile, and perhaps found one they can accept, or something like that.

  • Or, most likely, just someone correcting a typo in the numbers and the scrapers picking it up as a new batch.

  • Also - generally what are Alaska doing? Do they bring the votes in by sled?

  • Maybe there were two ballot papers stuck together. It is getting exciting.

  • Alaska could have been called for Trump last week.

  • They could probably call it for GOP for the next couple of elections, to be fair.

  • Is that accurate - or like the Greenland thing because of map projections?

  • In NC Biden would need ~70% of the remaining ballots (estimated), that's not impossible given what is happening in GA and PA with mail in ballots.

There hasn't been an update to the NC numbers for 19 hours.

NC also accepts ballots postmarked 3rd November as long as they're received by 12th November. Until they get an idea of the flow of incoming votes it's too risky to call it.

    "
The state will not start counting any absentee ballots or early votes cast in person after Oct. 29 until Nov. 10, making Alaska the last state to count absentee ballots in the country.
    "

AK will count ballots postmarked on the 3rd but not received until the 13th (for those in the US) and 18th (for AK residents living outside the US).

  • That's accurate size, map projection things are what makes it look small.

  • Is that accurate - or like the Greenland thing because of map projections?

Texans love the fact that if you cut Alaska in half then Texas would be the third biggest state.

  • Alaska could have been called for Trump last week.

Quite - didn't they call California with like 30% counted. I think I just need to accept I don't really understand the calling thing. Like, I get it, but then I don't get it.

  • I always thought it was a bit further north than that.

  • Some counties probably send their ballots by ice flow,
for all the difference it makes to the statewide outcome.

  • You’re missing the fact that neither of those example tactics ‘succeed’ in any other way than stalling until Election Day. At which point ... job done.

  • Thanks for that - makes more sense - apart from the bit where Alaska take a week before starting to count absentee ballots. Lazy Alaskans.

  • And yes would have preferred Bernie, but isn't he also a "career politician"? ;)

Not really. He’s spent his life pissing off powerful people and being popular with powerless people. If anything ... he bears more comparison with the 2016 (disingenuous) branding of Trump as popularist, anti-establishment. Loved by Firefighters and farmers etc. Both have a devout following.

  • i am waiting for a Trump statement on Area 51/ aliens. Perfect dead cat for his base

  • "Midnight Train To Georgia"

  • What a surprise that John 'Torture Memos' Woo is in favour of Republican legal thuggery. I'm shocked, shocked! I say.
