  • Simple solution - Open your garden to the public.

  • Could you imagine it? I bet he cuts the grass by carefully pulling each blade out by the root, measuring it with callipers, trimming it to length with titanium scissors then using a carbon fibre dibber to put each one back.

  • Had a test yesterday due to having a bit of a cough. Would be very surprised if it was covid but my girlfriend was concerned. Loads of local appointments available, basically took about an hour from deciding I was going to have a test to being back home afterwards. Will see how quick the results come through.

  • 400 and 500 deaths the last two days respectively, I know a lot of that will be corrections to prior periods but large increases to go unnoticed by many while the US drama goes on

  • Apparently humans can catch Covid from minks, who first caught it from humans.

  • Thanks to the increase in numbers, China has just banned anyone coming from the UK (apart from PRC nationals) from entering once again, a few people I know were planning to go to the UK for xmas and that's all off now . I know I'm lucky to be here where life is super normal, but still... fucks with your head a bit to think that there are family members I will probably never see again.

  • Nearly deserted outside. I live near a school and there are almost no kids being dropped off.

    /csb parklife don’t @ me etc

  • Odd, schools are open.

  • I was thinking it didn't really seem that different this morning, plenty of people passing on the way to the local primary school, cars on the road, etc. Not actually left the house though so ...

  • Definitely fewer kids being dropped off, maybe they've staggered classes or something. Traffic was about the same as last week apart from there were definitely no parents trying to get into town straight after school drop off.

Got the results this morning (negative as I expected). ~ 36 hours from test to result which seems reasonable at the moment. Came through at 6am which makes me think there must be a nightshift on.

Is it? Traffic are insane with parents driving 2 miles to drop their precious to school.

  • When I took the dog out for a piss at 0530 today, the A2 running through Blackheath was rammo.

Indeed. The pandemic has meant more parents are driving their precious to schools rather than letting them get the school/public buses.

Although, saying that, I have seen an increase in parents cycling with their precious to school.

This is very evident in the wealthy in neighbour of Fulham.

And actually have the time to do so due to being furloughed.

  • I could, theoretically, form a support bubble with my parents and then all the requirements to meet outdoors etc all away?

You don't live alone though do you?

    https://www.gov.uk/guidance/making-a-support-bubble-with-another-household

    "
A support bubble is a close support network between a household with only one adult in the home (known as a single-adult household) and one other household of any size.
    "

  • That doesn’t include household where you share a kitchen and bathroom I guess?

I rent a room that’s also my sitting room, bedroom and dining room in one.

  • I would imagine that just because you aren't friends with your housemates, it doesn't mean you're a single adult household.

  • Techinically a shared household no matter how rarely I see the other tenant.

    Yeah unfortunately

  • Just been out (for an emergency) and Balham was as busy as normal. When you look at the list of essential shops that can remain open, it seems to be at least 50% of them. Roads busy and people wandering around as usual. Very different to lockdown 1.

  • Same in Manchester although I haven’t been in to the city centre.
