• Hey guys. Bought a wall mount on here, advertised as unused but came without the plugs/screws and instructions.

It needs 2 screws and has to be mounted into a wall stud but this is my first time putting one up. Any specific requirements on type, size and depth of screws I need to make sure I hit? Do I need to make sure I use a wall plug also or is screwing directly into studs ok?

    Any help appreciated!

  • If you're screwing into wooden studs, then you just use a wood screw and no wall plug - it will go through the plasterboard and hold in the wood. All the mounts I've ever had have used fairly chunky screws with a countersink head - guess they'll be M5 or M6? Length will depend on the size of the studs, which are usually 2"x4", so 100mm deep; I'd guess anything between 70 and 100mm should work.
