I have to deflate my 25's when putting the rear wheel in my 1993 Carrera...

I have to deflate 23s to get the rear wheel in my 80s Motta!

I have to deflate 25c gp5000s that measure 28 on hed Belgium+ rims to get them on. But once in place there’s a bit more clearance. I reckon it could take a 30mm tyre. Short chai stays but the slim tubing leaves more clearance than carbon bb clusters.

Last weekend I've built some new wheels for my Stelvio. Silver 32H Campagnolo Daytona hubs with sealed bearings with shiny Atlanta 1996 rims. I like it, though the lower rims were also nice in my opinion.

Prefer the new wheels. Looks perfect to me; that's really nice.

That is class. Love it

new wheels definitely make it feel more modern, and better imo.

Thanks! Old wheel are for sale in classifieds, if anyone has interest

Never quite got this finished as intended, it was in the bike shop for steerer trimming and to have the wheels rebuilt with silver spokes when a new project came along. Quick pic before it gets unbuilt. I did manage to ride a couple of hundred miles on it and those were a lot of fun, it’s beautifully light and responsive.

Recently swapped the praxis crank for a Rotor Aldhu - doesn’t feel like there’s 10kg in the BB area now - full builds around 8.7kg
Slight rubbing on fork crown under sprints and out of saddle so will likely go down to 25s

Nice. I think 25s will suit the tubing better, too.

Did you weigh the cranks? Interested to know what the weight difference was?

Your Nikor looks great dude.
Will see if I can push from 25 to 28 on my Concorde. Though I have just been gifted a very old carbon frame so that might be getting the MGOOF treatment instead

• #2692
can you get 26s or 27s? not sure 28s will fit in my somec
-
• #2693
The MAX forks will be aiding that - not sure many forks on 'traditional' older steel frames would accommodate 28s. My concorde forks certainly won't.
-
• #2694
Yeah cheers dude. Good point about the max forks
-
• #2695
Cheers dude. Look forward to seeing pics of your old school carbon given a new lease of life.
And yes those Max forks could probably fit 42's!...its the rear that's the squeeze. And even if you can only fit 25's I think those fitted with the newer wider rims still make a noticeable difference and improvement over the older narrower rims. I've got some old Croc D'Aune hubs built up with some new wider Pacenti Brevet rims fitted with 25's on my 753 Merckx, and they fell much nicer than the Chorus/Open Pro's I'm used to.

Not seen one of these before, is it aluminium? Looks good there anyway 👌🏻
-
• #2697
Yes it’s alu. I really like the alloy frames from this period.

That's my old frame and it's great!

I built up this Azzurri coloured Italian over the weekend.
The frame is Columbus SL with teardrop shaped tubes in the main triangle, and has some nice touches, spearpoint lugs...
...lugs featuring Denti's ladybird logo...
....and again on the lugs for the fastback seat stays.
And on eBay I found some matching bar ends :)
Classic steel frame with modern semi compact 52/36 Campagnolo Ultrashift 10 speed, to get me up anything, 25c tyres and latex tubes. Quick, light and super comfortable, such a smooth ride, very happy with it.

Fantastic!
My Cassati and my Fiori both would take 28s. I never tried anything bigger then a 23 on the Kestrel SCIs I used to race.
