Now I'm in the camp of do I unpack everything or start the renovations already? Joy number one of living in an old property, lack of sockets. By lack I mean 1 double in each room, 2 if I'm lucky.
I went with option 1. Knew I'd change plans a bit and wanted to get a feel for the place first.
Does mean I've got just about nothing done in 2 months though. Apart from fixing the water pressure for the shower. But a proper shower is just about a prerequisite for getting anything else done.
Also, congrats :)

I would largely say option 1. Make a couple of rooms (usually bedroom / living room) habitable so you have some respite from renovation chaos but i'd get cracking with making it yours whilst you have a blank canvas.
Definitely this if you're thinking about chasing new sockets etc. Otherwise all your shit will be covered in an inch of dust.

My place was refurbed just before I bought it so fortunately gone big on sockets, ethernet and coax connections. Annoyingly though half of the rooms have a double socket, ethernet and coax connection four foot up the wall for some unexplained reason.
And renovations first. The motivation to do stuff is much greater when you can't unpack till you do it.
Great news
