• I'm not sure this best thread to ask this. I'm looking in to a bike for my girlfriend. She's not a cyclist so I'm after something functional as a mode of transport around London, 32c+ slick tyres, mudguards, flat bars probably. Probably something more hydbrid-y than anything else would be ideal but I'm open to any suggestions!
It's probably worth mentioning that she's pretty short, about 150cm. Would a bike with a smaller wheel size be beneficial? I'm not really sure where to start looking but the Kona Dew looks decent, comes with 650b wheels as well.
As I said, I'm open to any suggestions because I'm not sure where to start narrowing down the selection from! Needs to be available on the cycle to work scheme as well.

  • My wife went for a Kona Coco. Really nice bike for the money! It's a step-through frame but is otherwise similar to the Dew.

  • Wife has the same too, managed to convince here ahead of some random bobbin thing. Well I just bought it for before she could do something she'd regret...
    Cracking bike for the money.

  • The new 650b version or the old 700c (same frames tho, brought my sister one as they’re excellent).

I fitted a 11-36 as she use it a bit more for longer distance ride.
