This answer:
Who would be your guests at your perfect dinner party (dead or alive)?
Neil Amstrong. To ask if he actually went and then what it was like.

It's this answer I couldn't understand at the time:
I love the first little lump up to the roundabout in Epping forest and then left from there up to High Beech in the forest. That's home roads for me.
Maybe Epping New Road is more fun if you have a bit more power in your engine but I hate that stretch.

I seem to remember liking it a lot more when I was fitter. :)

I'm disappointed we won't have Soler trying to sneakily get time back on Mas for the rest of the week.

But I'm over the moon for Hugh Carthy, richly deserved.

Lol.

I once went to Sheffield meadowhall, I think I'm best mates with Hugh now.

What a year for young British cyclists. Made up for Carthy.

An interesting rhetorical question is 'how well does Hugh Carthy tt?'. It is quite possible that he doesn't know himself, as it isn't a discipline he has had to go all-out at. Taking an educated guess of worse than Roglic, better than Carapaz and much better than Martin, the last mountain stage could be a great showdown. I don't think the Vuelta is over quite yet, particularly considering the risk of Roglic burning out in the 3rd week after the season he has had.
Probably just wishful thinking, but about to check the odds on Carthy.

8/1, making a small investment!

The closest comparison in recent seasons, in terms of length and parcours, to tomorrow's TT is the Giro stage last year to San Marino, a 34.8 km TT with an uphill finish.
Roglic won, Carthy was 8th 1' 30" down and Carapaz was 11th 1' 55" down.

Fred Wright on 34-32. He said it was too big.

I’ve never seen a climb on TV that appears so hard. I’ll assume it’s even harder than it looks.
-

A certain British symmetry to yesterday’s stage with Hugh Carthy first over the line and Harry Tanfield last over nearly 39 minutes later.

I’ll assume it’s even harder than it looks.
It is. Especially if it's wet. And misty.

I really enjoyed watching the pros on the harder slopes. It's lovely to see them riding at a pace that can be managed by mere mortals such as myself.*
*On the flat. Possibly with a slight tailwind.

Sepp Kuss did Angliru in almost exactly half the time it took me, according to Strava. I can live with that. It's a bit of a surprise that Dave Brailsford did it 15 minutes faster though.

That's a very good comparison, but I would hope that Carthy is much closer with the stakes being so much higher and him clearly being in the form of his life. I would also expect Roglic to be more fatigued after 5 plus weeks of grand tours with winning classics in between. My guess is that JVs analysis is an attempt to deflect pressure from Carthy whilst hoping for a closer result.

He said he had some muscle pain and had to get off for a bit. He had a 36-34 (and had to convince the mechanics to put it on too!)
that's from before m*mn*ck did brexit tho innit. he interviewed carthy in 2019
