It sounds strange and I can’t really explain it but I at least thought there was some kind of plan, even a very loose one. I just don’t think my brain can comprehend the level of incompetence and the fact they are running the country.

That's fair enough, I struggle to comprehend it myself tbh...
The difference between the last few months and February/March is that nobody really knew what was going to happen. This time we've seen it once before and SAGE were very clear six weeks ago that a short, sharp lockdown sooner rather than later would save lives.
But they've dithered and prevaricated for six weeks and now we need a longer lockdown, which I reckon will end up needing to be longer than the four weeks announced today. I dread to think how many more people will have died as a result of that decision. Or lack of.
