  • I sold my old Planet X exocet2 earlier this year and picked up a speedconcept frame to replace it...
Cue going much slower on my club TTs this year.

  • So - plenty still to do.

    Spec as it stands:

    2014 SpeedConcept frameset/module - large, with low-far stem and 15mm riser
Prime 50mm wheels - with sketchy disc cover on the rear.
Ultegra 6800 rear mech - with replacement oversized pulleys and mechanical bar end shifters
Sram rival 165mm cranks and 60t narrow wide chainring.

First things I need to address I think are the front-end - the ergo-mono bars aren't narrow or long enough for my liking, so I will be looking at replacing that with the ergo plug-in and using some longer extensions.
Front wheel really needs something more aero - the current one even has round spokes :(
Rear likewise. Spokes not an issue there, but the covers are horrible flexy things and I am not convinced are helping.

  • Looks lovely.

All club TT's have pretty much finished for the year here down in P region. I only got a chance to ride one this year :(

  • Cheers - yeah, at least it does look good :)

I think we have 2 or 3 left. We normally have finished by now - but it was put back and we are running them earlier in the evening due to light levels.

  • Let me know if looking to shift those wheels :) The rims on my RS81's are nearly shot.

  • Deserves a trispoke front!

Very impressed at how tidy the cable routing is, particularly for a cable groupset.
    Unnecessary left shifter though?

  • Yup - cable routing is pretty good, although it does make swapping risers etc on the front-end a pain.

Left shifter is, as you say redundant - but gives something to hold onto :)

  • They are my wheels from my road bike, pressed into emergency service when I realised that there would actually be some races to do :)

  • Have a Flo disc on the way.

Thinking about a tri-spoke front at some point next year - I did spot what looks like the Revolver Troika on aliexpress for around £350 a little while back, but can't find it now.

  • Aha - nice one, yeah that looks like it - seemed to be a handful of aliexpress sellers selling it when I looked a little while back.

  • Not got round to looking at front wheels yet, but have made some front-end changes.

Swapped the extensions for the mono plug in and popped some zip 110 extensions in. Also swapped out the pad wing and pads for a wattshop mono pad.

This has allowed me to get longer and narrower and closer to my old position on my planetx....

  • Lovely frame/setup. I just think "shut up legs" every time I see one...

  • Ordered a trispoke:

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000804762613.html?spm=2114.12010612.8148356.2.40c11b3dzB3Rpm

Not in stock, so need to wait 15days for the factory to make it apparently....

  • Arrived today.

Looks pretty well made, will see how fitting a tubeless corsa speed is later this evening.

All being well should test it out in our clubs tt tomorrow.

  • And on the bike
Seems to have held together and is faster than the 50mm I was running.

  • loooooooong bike

  • Gosh, is the rear wheel as close to the draft box as it looks?

  • Nah, not that close.

  • Looks very fast. What grip tape are you using out of interest?

  • Just a few bits of skateboard deck tape - the black shiny bits on the base bars and extensions are just electrical tape holding the cables in place.

  • Thinking about extension upgrades/changes now.

Would like to get a little lower on the front - so thinking about switching the extensions for some reversed 40degree extensions - which should put my hands in about the same place I think, but allow me to level off the tilt, thus dropping the pads 5-10mm

  • £145 for fucking arm rests?! :S

I am no longer contemplating swapping mine out for a single piece unit.

  • hah - these were £50 second hand.

Prices of armrest, extensions etc is getting mental

  • No wonder people are just fabbing their own.

My entire PX TT bike cost less than a set of Wattshop or Aerocoach bars.
