  • My point is the design DNA is all there. To say they 'don't look anything alike' is just total nonsense. Regardless of whether or not a Black Bay looks like one. They are separated by 70 years. Look at a car from 1953 compared to a car from 2020. The 1953 Submariner looks far more like the 2020 Submariner than the car does. For the Submariner to have changed as little as it has in that 70 year period is pretty wild.

Bracelet that tapers towards the clamp
    Three link bracelet
    5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 minute markers where ten minutes are denoted by Arabic numerals on the bezel
Minute track around the outer edge of dial
Round/baton/upside down triangle markers are all in the same location
    Lollipop seconds hand
Rolex Oyster Perpetual and Submariner wording is in the same location
    Very similar case shape
Lume pip at 12 o clock on bezel

The only major additions that cannot be found anywhere on the original Submariner are the rehaut, crown guards and Mercedes hand.

  • Nope it’s a different watch. It’s gone from tool to luxury and lost most of the beauty that made it great.

  • Didn't deny that, did I?

Ed said: 'You’re right, it is still in production since the first one, even thought the original look nothing like the current one.'

I am merely disagreeing with that and telling him why.
