  • I have this in my ‘watch’ list on eBay... very nice!

  • Well, maybe one day.

  • I'm considering this, but still not sure about 34mm...

  • You're not 30 yet, you've still got plenty of time to become enough of an old man to consider a Rolex. :)

  • U work for Alan Sugar AICMFP

  • If I do, it'd be a DJ, simple OP or Sub like the above. By the time I'm considering it they'll be well into 5 figures... oh wait

Edit: or an Explorer! how could I forget it

  • Yeah jumbo is nice, fair bit older I guess, 90's is it?? Yeah I think the 36mm in the 76214 is harder to come by as the 34mm don't sell due to the size. I think along the same lines as you as I think something around 38mm would be perfect for my wrist on a dressier watch, which is the case size for a jumbo edition, no??

  • Ha! I'd love a modern 36mm silver dial datejust. Used to prefer the look of the 16014 vintage models but they're so light because of the old bracelets that they lost a fair bit of appeal for me.
To be honest out of everything Rolex wise I wanted the white 39mm or the 36mm explorer. That white is gonna be a solid investment for those lucky enough to get one. Not the reason I wanted one but never hurts on top.

  • Still want a 214270.

  • , I wouldn't wear it, because of how much attention they get.

So many people are wearing homages to the point you might actually not notice other wearing it.

You can even buy a fake for around £500 and nearly impossible to tell the difference.

  • Not sure exactly when the jumbo is from, but I’d say 80s-90s.
This is 37mm on an 8” wrist. It has 44mm lug to lug. The 34mm Tudor has 43mm lug to lug. I’m gonna have to try the 34mm version I reckon. I’ll do it for us :-)

  • That’s true. However, I’d be conscious that I’m wearing a small car on my wrist. And I don’t want to wear a homage either. Well apart from my Seiko 62mas homage/reissue from... Seiko :-)

  • I think this one is more eye-catching, it's certainly more rare, but no-one has ever spotted it.

I think to those people outside the hobby a watch is a watch.

  • That is beautiful. But isn’t 34mm the infamous boy scout size that Joe bought a few years ago and let go as it was ‘too wee’?

  • My bad, that one was 32mm

  • That’s true. I don’t know how many people know of Tintin as well.

  • How much are you after for the Peg’?

  • thanks to @inchpincher any mark on the dial is a no no to me and I immediately walk away :-)

I wish I followed my own advice on that one.

@freddo I’m not familiar with that ref but are the silver hands/gold markers combo original?

  • Well apart from my Seiko 62mas homage/reissue from... Seiko :-)

If you wanna be all techinical, the current submariner is a homage/reissues of the original!

  • It isn't really. The Submariner has never ceased production since it's introduction as far as I'm aware, so it's been a constantly evolving design. No recreation here.

  • hey, nice swatch....

  • Ha, excellent! Genuinely interested to see what it wears like, saying that my wrists are super skinny at 6.5 inches.

  • Here's a 34mm on a 7in wrist. To me it looks great.

  • Got a high res of that pic? I do like an off white dial.

This is cracking piece of dial design (ignore the gaping endlink)... https://zeppelinerinvest.com/
