Knock it upwards towards the fork crown using a mallet and something blunt like towel over screwdriver.
Out of curiosity what forks? I faced same issue with kinesis forks; barely clears 25c.

Yeah. VO mudguards are fiddly. Very fiddly.
Mine fit well on my Steamroller but it is tight at the front. I can just about get away with 28s.
Do you have any pics?

SKS chromoplastic are your friend.
Did this really need a new thread?

One rule for the elite one for us all!

Ah so we’ve got you to blame for the end of Lewisham LTNs after a measly 7week trial.

Some Tektro model. I need to replace it as the shape of the callipers puts stress on the guard. It's minor but likely to be an issue if I don't sort it out.

I'm using Alpina carbon forks.
Thanks for your help all. I've applied the mallet treatment and I've sorted it. Just don't ask me to get a fag paper between the tyre and mudguard :-)

got an image of the clearance? also helpful if you tell us brake caliper, tyre width and rim .. thank you!

Fagpaper clearances used to be all the rage round here

Doesent inspire confidence, I am tempted to go steel forks BUT I think my callipers are a limiting factor :(

As said above, is it the fork stopping it going higher or the brake caliper?
I found with mine, my Shimano long drops weren't the right shape and in fact an old 10 speed era Sram Force caliper worked best. That wasn't ideal either so in the end went with one of these:
Just put my VO's back on this week after summer. Reminded me how the front part of the guard past the front caliper shakes, especially when you take a hand off the bars. Need to give it extra support somehow or maybe try a daruma bolt and see if that hold's the guard stiffer to the fork.

my Shimano long drops
TRP arent either :(
In my case it was a bit of both.

Well, 7 hours in and I can't fit a 23mm tyre under the rear Velo Orange mudguard without it rubbing.
Can anyone tell me what the point of these mudguards is if you can't even fit a 23mm tyre inside it?
Sorry but I'm frustrated.

An anyone tell me what the point of these mudguards is if you can't even fit a 23mm tyre inside it?
I don't think it's the fault of the mudguard that it doesn't fit under your specific fork

It's the rear and it's a standard Terry Dolan winter frame.

There isnt any, expensive mudguards are a fallacy by the FBNPNA crew. SKS work just as well, are easier to fit and 3 times cheaper.
Now that you have them; Phil is right, it is kinda to do with the frame/fork/brake. Just like astrology stars they have to align for guards to work.
It could be the shape of the fork, maybe the rear brake is not long reach(?).
Good thing about VO is that hipsters will buy it off you so you can buy SKS :)

Same goes for GB, swarf, Honjo and all of that bullshit.
SKS works fine.

Thanks chaps. Perhaps I'll ditch these things and go for the cheaper option.

What size tyre does your frame fit without mudguards?
Is it a 90s frame? -

What size VO guards are they?

It's a standard Dolan Preffisio winter frame. About as standard a winter frame as you'll get. It's about 7 or 8 years old. I see no reason why I can't fit a 23mm tyre underneath without it rubbing.
The guards are the narrow VO hammered black type. The Sigma Sport website states they can take up to 25mm tyres. Chance would be fine thing. I've tried 3 different 23mm tyres and I simply can't successfully fit them without the wheel spin being hampered.
I bought these for £35 off the classifieds but they're in excess of £65 brand new.
Biggest waste of money ever. Whatever I do to adjust them, it's not happening. The hole in the rear guard for the bridge wasn't even in the correct position. I had to drill a new hole so I could line the guard bridge up against the frame's brake bridge.
Lesson learned. Never again.
All,
Advice please. I have tried unsuccessfully so far over two evenings to fit a Velo Orange front mudguard onto a standard winter fork. Once I've put the brake caliper bolt through the mudguard bracket and attached the caliper back onto the fork, there is no clearance for a 23mm tyre to spin as it is being held by the underside of the mudguard.
Frustration isn't the word. I've nearly got to the spanner throwing stage.
Are Velo Orange mudguards standard? Can anyone offer any advice please?
Thanks.
