Maybe wait until someone else with more knowledge advises you! As I said, I haven’t much of a clue but ours works.

Migrating between Android <> Apple is less difficult than it was, but still stupid challenges such as Whatsapp conversations.
Is this still a non-starter?

While on the subject of credit cards - has anyone who has set up a vitual credit card on their iPhone managed to also have this as an option on their mac?
Mine doesn't want to "sync", so to say - can't Apple-pay with the card on mac, but can do so no problem on the iPhone.
Neither bank nor Apple being helpful unfortunately.. -

Well, if you wish to pay £30 to run all of your personal conversations via a non-name software with unknown consequences (may upload everything to god knows whre)... it is very much a non starter :(
I did a iPhone > Android about 4 years ago manually and it was OK, but that's not possible the other way now.

Had a go on iPad Air in John Lewis today, their apple section only allows in 8 people, but was preferable to the queuing at the apple store.
Handwriting recognition is nice, works better with cursive and lower case, but is also good if you write each letter individually. I write cursive in capitals so it has a hard time every so often tracking what I was writing.
Tried using the cheaper iPad mini and 2019 iPad and it works the same if a bit slower on then.
Intrigued, but not sure, feels like handwriting notes, but slower as you have to concentrate a bit more to make your writing legible so you’re not constantly going back to correct, and I don’t know if it’ll learn your handwriting and become more accurate over time.. -

Give it 6 months and you'll maybe have to charge it before 8.

I write cursive in capitals
How? Serious question... :)
-
• #16534
So long as it lasts 12 months I’ll be happy.

Just do, copied a friends style of handwriting when I was in school and just kept on with it. Looks a bit like graffiti or a tag but it works for me.
Edit, see handwriting sample below. Top one is me trying to make it legible for others, lower one is me writing it for me.

Gauging interest...
Have a latest/2020 Macbook Air, i5, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD that's sat unused in its box.
Ordered it assuming it'd go to work with me. I suppose technically it has.Anyway, it's this one, £1299 from Apple
https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/buy-mac/macbook-air/space-grey-1.1ghz-quad-core-core-i5-processor-with-turbo-boost-up-to-3.5ghz-512gbAnyone interested at about 20% off... £1050?
(save me from it going on eBay next time they do a £1 fees offer.)Can post pics etc, but it's just a new Space Grey Macbook Air in its box

I’m guessing you are talking about the payment method associated with appleID for app and in app purchases not the cards in Apple wallet/Apple Pay which is what you use in stores (online and real). For purchases under the Apple ID, because with family sharing they are available to everyone in the family group, they all use the same single payment card. You can or should be able to add more cards under your own id and whichever you set as the top of the list is used by all but you can’t do different cards per account.

Trying to connect an Apple Superdrive to a MBP via a USB C hub with no joy.
Can anyone recommend an alternative adaptor that is known to work, a bit of research suggests some will and some won't.

Ive got that apple one in the picture, seems to do the task although the lack of actual ports now is a pain in the arse.

Another and probably the last Apple keynote this year is happening on 10th November. It's quite safe to say that there will be new Apple Silicon powered Macs (latest rumors say two 13" devices) and maybe AirTags and/or headphones.
I'm hoping for a 13" MacBook Pro with 8GB and 256GB for under 1800€. Never been more excited for a keynote! -

any got a 12? or seen the colours in person? what colour did you get?
going to order a mini, but no idea which
-
• #16547
Got a 12 pro (blue) and wife got a 12 (red).
The blue looked okay in the store but it is more ultramarine than dark blue like the pro.
Green is rubbish.
I would say black or blue.

What vintage/model Superdrive is it? IIRC the one that you could get for the original MacBook Air would only work properly with certain non-standard USB ports. The newer one is meant to be more compatible.
-
• #16549
The model number is A1379. A quick search suggests the one before was the A1270? I'm not sure how old this one is, recently bought from the classifieds.
Hopefully the adaptor will make it good.

I use an A1379 with my 2017 Macbook Pro - I've got a few cheapo dongles and adapters, and it seems like the multi-port/multi-function dongles generally don't work, but the direct USB-A > USB-C adapters do. Not sure if that's just a coincidence, but the drive definitely does work with the computer.
Hmm ok, I’m getting on to them again then, or I might just launch the iPad into the canal..
