  • My point was just that the intramatic was the better watch - as opposed to the navitmer copy!

  • One was a warranty replacement - it had gone back to NZ for a repair due to a winding issue. Magrette fixed it foc and sent it back. Took it out of the packaging put it on and about an hour later, just after I ordered the orange strap above, the minute hand detached and just span. Email Magrette about sending it back and they said don’t bother we’ll send you a replacement and it turned up with the strap I’d ordered. Obviously everything was delayed to fuck by c19 but great service by Magrette.

  • @umop3pisdn and I were chatting about the pleasure of being able to buy early quartz watches which were pretty desirable at the time, which available for very afforable prices these days. Which has lead me to buy this 1978 Silverwave.

Considering its over 40 its in great condition, case is still so crisp. It has a screw down crown, Kanji and english days and the 'silverwave' on the back.

  • I think I've seen it on eBay the other day! Very nice.

  • ah, the venerable "cock-and-balls" series, on my list of wants.

  • I spent a while looking out for a cock and balls seiko but never got round to buying one. There was someone on reddit who was always selling nice ones but can't remember what their username is now.

  • "cock-and-balls"

and what look like boobs on the right. (yeah yeah i know... stop spoiling my childishness)

  • This guy probably, he has a shop and insta now as well:

  • Aha, can't unsee it now.

    Nice watch @spotter !

  • This was the one, cheers.

(For some unknown reason Instagram always asks me to log in which is awkward as I don't have an instagram account).

  • If you have a Facebook account, then that’ll work.

  • Nice watch @spotter

For clarification the 7546 is a single quartz movement, the twin ones have a double knob emblem (photo from your link).

  • Good to know, thanks.

  • Double Knob movement. MmmmmmmK.

  • This dealer in France has a nice selection, I guess he imports straight from Japan and doubles his money but I still think for a couple of hundred quid these KQ and GQ are value. Condition is everything.

  • These are all discountinued now to make way for the turd Royal.

  • I believe these are Asian market only.

  • Yeah they are, I've wanted one for ages but they've finally been discoutinued over there and replaced with the Royal. Shame we got the Royal and not this option.

  • When were they discontinued? There’s a dealer in Denmark selling 2020 models.

The blue ones seem difficult to find in good condition. I don’t necessarily want to go vintage, the jumbo (38mm I think) would be nice but again, not many around. Ideally I’d like a 36mm as there is quite a few popping up on eBay/Chrono24 etc.
I’ve found a very nice vintage example but it’s 34mm and I think that’d be pushing it a bit with my 8” wrist...

  • The blue were not popular first but are now probably the hardest to come by, the blue with fluted bezel is very rare compared to the others. I was due to get married this year and then go to Japan for the honeymoon and was hoping to try and pick one up before they got discontinued.

A guy I follow on instagram deals a lot with this model and I've been watching the prices go up and the supply go down. Nearly got one so many times but I hate paying all the duty etc. Theres other variants like the "cali dial" on there too, he pretty much had them all in at some point. He said that it took him 3 years to find a blue with fluted bezel.

Just going off his information regarding being discontinued as I think he flies out to Asia a few times a year to source them and said that the Royal is replacing them.

Prepare yourself for the blue Tudor Sub though, unreal.

  • Some great watches there.
I don’t like paying duty etc but I think it might be the only way. I’d love to try one in 34mm first though before pulling the trigger.

  • Hand engraved platinum Grand Seiko.
    £87,000.
