  • Is buying this slightly knackered looking mixer bad value? Seems fairly priced at £85, assuming it works. I only need it to last long enough to put in some footings and mix up some like mortar for my walls. Spray over of rust-oleum and it should last the winter covered right?

  • I bought a much worse looking one than that 3 years ago, gave £50 for it, has been kept outside for most of that time, covered with a tarp and dumpy bag, has never missed a beat. If the drum is round and not rusted through, and the engine spins it, you are good for a few years yet.

  • Spray over of rust-oleum

    Assuming that metal isn't so thin as to immediately fall through, I'd save the money. Just spray whatever wd40 type product you have lying about before you cover it up.

    The one the LL's builders left in our garden at uni was in worse state than that and it was still perfectly serviceable as a rotating fire pit in the summer.
