I was lucky to inherit the Mk1 design, so cant take credit, but was able to work on updates over the years. Exactly as you say, so much refined attention to detail, when the other jerseys on the market were relatively basic polyester.
And that’s a good point; there were some great products, that owners swore by, but just sank. Softshell Gilet, Fixed Jersey, original Winter Gloves. I dropped out of bidding on a Medium Hooded Tracktop when it got to well over £100 last year!

When you say sank, do you mean they weren't popular enough?
Fixed Jersey
Still see these out and about (100% merino long sleeved short zip?). Thought they were v popular in terms of sales. I've recently given one away, still kept one but it doesn't get that much use.
Medium Hooded Tracktop
One of my most worn items of clothing over the years! That plus the 3/4 shorts. Wore two of the merino track tops til they fell to bits too.

City Wind Jacket too! Love mine, but one of the worst sellers of all time.
Was a sad day when I didn't put down a buy for the 3/4 (Fixed) Shorts - they were my first ever Rapha purchase - and full price with my own money! Still have a couple of pairs for occasional use, though have had to clear out most of the Rapha wardrobe now.
It had enough details to suggest someone either thought big or put a lot of their heart into it. Details that never reappeared on anything else so it likely missed the mark a little, but I enjoyed it. Plus I get irrational joy from products that are an evolutionary dead end for one reason or another (c.f. iPod shuffle 3, far too far in a certain direction)
