  • I used to think this.

Then once in the office we were chatting about tortillas while I was making lunch. Someone mentioned that you could use crisps. I said something about that MPW video where he burns it.

    https://youtu.be/4_Ow-V2K-bA

When I sat down to watch my boring car and motorbike mechanics youtube videos with my lunch, that ^ video was sitting half-way down in the auto play list with a note to say I'd last watched it 2yrs ago.

Every other video was related DIY, mechanical, fabrication stuff.

  • I've not logged into FB for a very long time.
I seem to be on 3 websites, this, iwastesomuchtime.com and the mailonline.

I've a sneaky hunch which one would have more cookies and stalk me.

Good hint about the chrome and Firefox..will start doing that

  • i made one with crisps yesterday. HAve you been spying on me?

  • Consider using an extension like Ghostery to disable tracking across your browsing habits if you don't like what you're seeing.

As someone who works in this area though, I would say that you were interested in vacuum batteries and now you've got an ad about vacuum batteries. Is that really that bad? Is it worse than getting a random ad about something you're not interested in?

  • All the new stair parts are here. Fingers crossed I don't fuck this up.

  • Honestly that one particular element isn't that bad.

But it's a small part of a whole industry which doesn't want to consider the ethical and long term consequences of what it's doing. It's a bit like the people working on the Manhattan Project. Except this time the technicians and scientists are part of something generating such unfathomable sums of money that there will never be an impetuous to take stock of what is going on.

Sorry, not to be a dick about your work depending on what it is - I've also worked in industries with dubious ethics.

  • Are you fitting the treads and risers yourself?

Most likely a colleague googled tortilla recipes or even the same MPW video on the work network you share, no?

  • Maybe. But I mentioned the video immediately, so would have thought they'd have mentioned it had they searched for it.

But my memory of it may be hazy as this was ages ago back when people used to work in offices together.

  • Cool, good luck! Floors, too?

Looking forward to seeing the step-by-step process.

  • Out of curiously how's everyone getting on with those Tado TRVs that were on a deal.

After thinking about it more* I think I may have been wrong about the usefulness of the concept.

*realising I forgot to manually turn down the TRV in the dinning room over the weekend and wondering how often I probably do this.

  • Aiming to exchange today, turns out the buyer at the bottom of the chain hadn't transferred enough to the solicitor, because buying/ selling wasn't stressful enough anyway...

So now they're making a mad rush to the bank, they don't have internet banking.

In other news, hoping to exchange tomorrow now...

  • It'll be long and painful. Woodworking skills are GCSE level.

  • There's always something, and it usually arises at the 11th hour. Best of luck!

We're just waiting on our seller's solicitor to get some indemnity insurance then we'll exchange. Completion on Friday seems optimistic but we'll see... We're in a chain of 2, fuck knows how anything gets done in a proper chain.

  • Thanks man! Good luck with yours too!

I'm in a chain of 3 and I was shuddering at the thought of a long chain!

  • Ha. No worries.

I head up our data / performance function for EMEA so I’m definitely deep in it.

I would say that most large agencies and large clients are so concerned with improper use of data (especially since GDPR) that they’re under using data rather than over using it or using it in an unethical way.

My specific role is with only B2B clients where the whole point is to target extremely small or hard to reach segments. I’m certainly not about high reach, high turnover revenue campaigns. Most of the work we do isn’t even attached to products you can buy off the shelf.

  • Ah thanks.
The photos are of when we viewed the place back in July.
We're driving down this Thursday to sign the Acte de Vente and get the keys.

    Have some more spooky photos.

  • I laughed at this pun

  • Genuinely accidental :)

  • Where does the forum go for cheap but not cheap-looking casement windows (probably UPVC)?

We had really nice looking UPVC sash windows fitted in our old place but I'm not sure where from, and we didn't really finish on good terms with the builder who oversaw it so I'm not sure we could find out.

Our loft room window (wooden, single-glazed) has some wet rot and the room doesn't have a radiator so it's cold. I've put in some draught tape but the window looked worse than I remembered.

  • Would those work on PornHub and redtube? Asking for a friend.....

In all seriousness I'm not that fussed however as I hadn't reviewed or looked at any batteries at all online just seemed strange.

On a more positive note; it looks like pending a clean bill of health for the boiler tomorrow we'll be exchanging Wednesday and completing Thursday!

It'll be bye bye London and hello Hollyoaks

  • Gonna be getting rid of a lot of UPVC windows in about 3-4 weeks. If any are the right size they are all yours. All in good condition (probably 15 years old) but we are replacing with wooden sash.

  • Exchanged today.
    Quite excited.

  • Congrats! In the bag now
