  • I’m after a fork for my Crockett that has rack mounts on it, anyone got any recommendations? Cheers!

  • does it work on forum posters

  • It works with everyone if you leave the plastic bag over their head long enough.

  • NBD for me -custom Ti Kite gravel frameset to have bits transplanted over from my Di2 Rose Xeon- not ridden in months so this is some good motivation for winter!

Has anyone tried the TRP brake upgrade for di2 with the switches?

  • ^^ A Simworks getaround bars fabric package I needed to take with me but had no pocket lol

  • Don’t know if you noticed your framebag?

  • Yes. Have it on my cross bike, with a single ring set up so no need for a front derailleur. I've gone for two, one in each shifter, and have set the right hand side to shift up, the left hand side to shift down.

The brakes are excellent anyway, but I really like this set up and it works a treat.

P.S. Looking forward to pictures of the new frame/bike.

  • Been having a massive urge to get one of these again. Should not have sold this over the genesis volare I only rode for 500 miles.

If anyone has one in a 56cm or anything similar and wants to sell/trade. Pm me.

  • I'm running 46x34 with 11-42 using an Ultegra Shadow RD. I don't want to touch the chainrings.

If I added a Wolftooth, what cassette could I run? 46T? Bigger?

Also, what's the difference between Goatlink and Roadlink? There's a bikepacking.com video showing a dude using 10spd Goatlink on 11spd GRX so is there actually any difference between them?

  • Where do you need to ride that you need that big of gear range with something as low as 34-46? That's well below the walking speed

  • Badlands. Yeah, I did quite a lot of walking, and I don't like it. My theory is that if I can at least attempt to ride this steep, rocky kind of thing I'll get better skills and won't have to dismount and walk so often. I'm basically using my gravel bike as a mountain bike in races like this.

  • You can definitely go up to 46 with a Wolftooth imho, happy to lend you mine if you want to give it a go. That gear ratio would be orrible for anything but Badlands though.

Also, consider the length of the chain needed for that gear range

  • If I added a Wolftooth, what cassette could I run? 46T? Bigger?

46t will work, 50t might push it, depending on derailleur itself.

  • I think if your looking to ride rocky ascents on a gravel bike with such a low gear ratio on a rigid bike, the lack of momentum and traction might get you first.

No one likes pushing but some times you've just got to suck it up. I'm just wondering if the route in question has climbs that are worse than the marginally possible climb in Swinley.

  • 42T has me removing 1 link from a 118 chain so, yeah, what do MTBers use for their silly 50+ cassettes? I guess they're running smaller front rings but still are there longer chains?

  • I've no idea about Swinley but I've been able to climb everything in the UK. Get a couple of days into Badlands though and throw some big rocks on a relatively benign gradient and I'm too fucked to pedal.

  • 32:46 fits in a 114 link chain on my 29" full sus bike.

  • 32t chainring and 50t cassette. Same chain length as 50t chainring, 32t cassette?

    Longer chainstays tho...

Don't know. Nothing useful to add, as usual.

  • oo, this is interesting, worth getting both? I was thinking just one given the cost implication (right hand side only I guess?)

  • Yeah, it's 34 though. But maybe I'll just try a 46T with the direct mount Wolf Tooth and see where that gets me. Or just take the platform pedals and FiveTens again.

  • For a 1x42/11-46 I need a whole length of 118 links, and still I got the feeling it's 1 link too short

  • MTBers must've run into this problem beforehand. Do they all buy tandem chains or something. I guess I've just not seen longer chains while looking around.

  • Big cassettes are on newer MTB groupsets and newer MTB chains are accomodating.

Sram Eagle is 126 links long

  • I don't want to touch the chainrings.

    Get a 30T.

  • My point was more on overall RD capacity.

Shimano states a total capacity of 39T for Ultegra RX, can it take the big jump 12 + 35 = 47T?
I know Shimano is always conservative, but that is a lot of swing
