We held our annual Meeting on 24th October by Zoom, this had been postponed from May and it was originally hoped to be an actual meeting but circumstances dictated a virtual meeting.
The usual formalities of elections and approval of Accounts took place, but the main discussion centred on our Championships.
Several options were discussed, but with the current difficulties of moving around the Country no firm decisions were taken, as any National Championships must be available for all.
We will look at the situation again no later than the end of December, and will do everything we can to hold both the 2020 Relays and the 2021 Saucony National at some point during 2021, dependent on restrictions imposed by Government and England Athletics. It was noted that the "National" has only ever been cancelled during the two World Wars and we certainly do not want to fall into that category.
Both Mansfield D.C. and Hampstead Heath are being very supportive of us and will be as adaptable as they are able to be.
We would like also to thank our Sponsors Saucony, who have continued to support us, despite the loss of a Championship in this calendar year, and they have also agreed to extend their agreement with us for another three years. We are most grateful in these difficult times and ask that our athletes support Saucony as much as possible.
Please be assured that we will do everything we can to get cross country running and our Championships specifically, back with you as soon as it is possible.
It can't be much fun being an amateur sports administrator at the moment. Unless something changes significantly in the next four months there isn't going to be a X country season and lots of people will be lost to other activities.
