  • Is a titanium post in a titanium frame a bad idea as well?

    It's two bad ideas 🙂

If you can get it to stay put, it won't be a dangerous combination from the corrosion point of view

  • I have a (Planet X) titanium frame on the way, I can’t find much of information on the likelyhood of galvanic corrosion but think I should avoid aluminium. I have some titanium bolts for bottle cages and mudguards

Galvanic corrosion won't be an issue, but galling can be a major problem with titanium. Won't be an issue with the slack tolerances of a seatpost, but may be with bolts. Use lots of coppaslip or similar anti-seize goop and you should be OK though.

  • Any recommendations for free apps or software for displaying telemetry from a smart trainer?

A friend has bought a turbo for general gentle exercise but definitely isn’t into trainer road/zwift level of commitment. Just wants to hold steady power/cadence for 30 min rides.

  • So is this the right/suitable for a 2009/10 Addict R3 with integrated seat post (measured at 30mm dia so confident it's the 30.25 option.

    Cheers in advance

  • I want some black and white, geometric style artwork or cityscapes or buildings or something (kind of Escher style but not Escher).

Any suggestions what/where I should be looking?

  • Are all people who ride GIANT bikes cunts?

Asking because all people I see riding GIANT bikes lately do look like cunts.

  • How many links do you take out if you go from 44 to 42t?

  • Probably none. The wheel axle moves back about ¼". If you're on the limit of backwards movement, taking out one pair of links will turn that into a forward movement of ¼"

  • Sorry, with gears.

  • Any phone IT or digital security specialists that can weigh in on something weird going on with my mobile phone line or actual phone?

TL,DR while I Edit it down: something is draining my data despite my best efforts, also had surprise charges for international SMS texts that I never sent and don’t appear on my Iphone. What to do?

I’ve been burning through 5gb/month of data for >3 months now, which didn’t use to happen. I’ve somehow gone through 3 extra 100mb data packs since last Saturday despite being nearly always on WiFi at home, with mobile data off, most of my apps don’t have access to mobile data, they don’t background refresh, they’re not open on my phone, images don’t download or upload on data...

On Sunday ran out data, then later I got a call from a random number apparently in Manchester, which I answered but didn’t speak. They didn’t say anything, so I hung up 5 seconds in.

On Tuesday my data had run out again and I tried to use EE credit to buy more data. I only had 40p left so I called EE, and the guy told me it was because of two international SMS I had allegedly sent on Sunday to a US number that I’ve never heard of. The SMS also don’t appear on my phone. We googled the number and it brought up several spam alert results, so the EE guy helpfully refunded my credit and I purchased a new data pack.

My data ran out again today. I’ve checked and My Data Manager shows that I’ve used 180MB of data since last Saturday, when I should have had 300Mb.

The EE chap suggested that My Data Manager wasn’t accurate, that I must have something draining my data. He also said I shouldn’t have further problems with dodgy charges if I don’t pick up calls from unknown numbers (NHS uses nothing but unknown or non-specific numbers...).

    Any suggestions?

  • Any phone IT or digital security specialists

Try the iOS or Android threads if your phone uses one of those operating systems.

  • Or, after swapping remeasure the chain length big to big and go to the closest fully linked chain plus an inner and outer.

  • I maintain that Giant Propel riders are the worst out there.

  • I'm assuming not massive new cassette or full sus which has different guidelines.

  • Giant make the best bikes though, TCR will be my next road bike

  • Cheers, some interesting stuff there

  • Like 10-42. That's not massive massive. Is it?

  • It's a big boi that may warrant an extra link in the proper sizing, check your instructions.
