is it? (ignoring the reciprocal in spring) if you go 1am to 2am, then the clock reverts to 1am you have to do that whole hour again no? apologies if I'm missing the aha here...

You're assuming Kermit's in the Northern hemisphere.

e.g. Australia move their clocks forward to DST in October.
