  • Don't bother with lock on grips, these are way better, cheaper, comfier, better colours, comfier, comfier, and don't budge on carbon bars:

  • Steeper and longer - as the fork sags stack decreases and reach increases. The longer the fork travel the bigger the difference (assuming sag has been correctly set).

  • Ah I read "stern to stern" as wheelbase which definitely does reduce. I see what you're saying about reach.

  • Steeper and shorter

    Steeper and longer

Is one of you talking about reach ( longer ), and the other wheelbase ( shorter )?

  • Yes, seems you are

  • I’ll clean everything with isopropyl and see whether that achieves anything, I’d be unsurprised to find that the ends of the bars are coated in brake fluid from the attentions of the shop in Morgins.

  • Foam grips - slow.

  • Foam grips - slow.

Said no WC XC racer ever.

I swear by ESI Chunky XLs.

  • I've got the Death Grips, if I can make them work then that's plan 1.

  • I use lock on grips on carbon bars and use a tiny amount of finish line fibre paste. A very light smear.
But also try giving the bolts an extra torque up. I think people worry about the possibility of crushing or damaging the bar if over tightened but mine slip unless I tighten them up beyond what feels normal.

  • Me Julie's new Zero AM weighs 12.7kg, what am I bid for my two?

  • Something something + several kilos of Minon tyre

  • Hardtail 13.9kg.

  • 13.5 for the hardtail.

  • 14.5 for the trail bike, complete with Minions

  • Does this mean Fenella's bike is better than yours?

  • Must do, it's also brighter.

  • I quite fancy trying to do this series in 2021, if anyone else fancies it let me know and we can share resources: https://southernenduro.co.uk

  • By ‘sharing resources’ you mean purchase of a van right?

  • Hah, well- whilst that’s an idea, I was more thinking of training, motivation, tools and teabags. But if anyone wants to go in with me on Yetidamo’s van as the LFGSS Enduro team vehicle I’d not say no.

  • DPD finally stopped being massive dicks.

  • I could be keen. I've not ridden any of the areas where the events are though, presumably they're not super hard courses based on the fact they are in the south? Not so keen to race against the clock on mega gnar or repurposed DH race courses

  • Lack of mountains around these parts, but no shortage of short sharp steep stuff. More clay than granite though, so I doubt it'll be Fort William style stuff. Ideally I'd like to do every race and also get to at least one EWS100 - all Covid dependent of course.

  • Sorry Neil, the van is gone. Popped it on ebay. Sold within 2 hours. Amazingly the company who modified it (and I bought it from) saw it and made me an offer to buy it back that I couldn't refuse. I guess they'll give it a valet and will be selling it on at great mark up. But I'm happy with a great price and an easy sale.
