100% this. The left keeps falling for diversions, trying to reason with people who don’t care about the issue at all, they just want to be outraged. That’s why every scandal is like water off a Rapha-clad duck‘s back, because trumps base only care about their individual pocket and ego. The republicans know this, which is why they keep a steady stream of rubbish flowing about the economy and how their side is winning.
Y’all didn’t ask but IMO the only way to get through to the people who would still vote trump and aren’t rich enough to benefit from his econ policies is to focus on the immediate, real and demonstrable effects of a trump presidency on their person. Push it right in their faces, don’t let them focus away from it, and scare them like hell. Very little efforts should be expended on answering things like Biden’s son’s issues, even real issues are used as a distracting dangling carrot.
Only pure egotistical self interest will get them to not vote for trump.
