  • Anyone here living with or has gone through surgery for a hip labral tear?

    (Just my fucking luck)

  • Also help getting bulky waste stuff to the tip/dump/recylcing centre for people without cars ?

  • greater forces on the upper?

Yes, specifically sideways force when shifting. Plastic uppers work fine, but DuraAce has always been about making stuff better regardless of value for money. Metal teeth should last longer, even though not by enough to justify the expense

  • I bought one of these and it works well so I ordered another one.
Second one turns up in damaged/repackaged box and the hooks and plates are missing.
Amazon said I can return it with refund or keep it with refund so I've done the latter.
What I need to do now is find or fashion some sort of simular brackets/plates/hooks combo that will fit onto the existing pole mounts.
    Any ideas ?

  • So I’ve always been a big fish eater. I was fine with pickled herring, pickles mackerel, lipeäkala, etc. The last year or so I’ve been kinda turned off by fish. The idea of even mild fish like Salmon, sushi, etc just hasn’t been appealing. I tried to eat some smoked kippers and smashed avocado today and almost retched.

Is there something like boar taint, but with fish?

  • Bleargh. I hate oily fish for that reason. Makes me gag.

For you that must be tough being in Mass. The solution is clearly to eat more lobster.

  • If I'm making an aubergine curry and forgot to fry them for long enough before adding the wet stuff, how long should I cook the whole lot for to get the aubergines nicely cooked?

Or is there no saving it?

    Thanks.

  • I’m 2 miles from the ocean, lobsters $4 a lbs (£3ish). Lobstah hasn’t been bothering me, but oysters have been. It’s a shame, New England oyster farms have really taken off in the last decade.

  • Cook the whole lot until the aubergines are nicely cooked.

  • If you put the lot in a slow cooker /cast iron pot at low heat for a few hours it should be fine IMHO.

As an aside if you are short of time and want to cook aubergines quickly (and not involve litres of oil) 5 minutes in the microwave will soften the flesh and prepare it for a light fry.

  • I used Enterprise Car Club for a while. I'm still a member although have now bought a car of my own.

One thing I found useful was to buy excess protection insurance from a third party. Can't promise it would pay out, but it gave peace of mind because the Enterprise excess is something huge like £750 and as a relatively new driver I felt I would inevitably have a bump or scrape of some kind.

  • Any links to a half decent 25.2mm seatpost?

  • I have a Thule yepp maxi for a rack. Can i use it with a seat tube adapter?

  • For Moots-style Ti seatposts, is there anything you should/can put between the internal wedges and the 'loop' of the post (part 4 here).

The recommend silver grade antiseize for all the threads, but nothing for these surfaces. I'm getting a little bit of rotation/tilt when riding off-road. I know Jeff Jones used to recommend a little blue loctite between shims and his original ti bars. Would that work here?

  • Ah, pro-tip! Nice one. I'll have a look.

  • Cheers for the aubergine tips.

Went for higher heat with the lid on.

The microwave is a good idea, as for stirfry I usually blanch them in boiling water - so similar logic.

  • I'm getting a little bit of rotation/tilt when riding off-road.

We used fibergrip on a customers bike that was moving in the past.

  • Is there anywhere I can buy just 1 of these springs? Its for the lfgss trailer.

  • I'm getting a little bit of rotation/tilt when riding off-road

    Things which might help

    1. Choose the post lay back which lets you clamp towards the front of the saddle
    2. High strength Loctite (e.g. 638)
    3. Lay off the pies
    4. Don't use a titanium seat post
  • Thanks. The layback's about right, pie consumption is way down and this just happened to be the only thing in the right diameter in the parts bin.

Have given everything another good clean and will have a go with the loctite. If that doesn't work, I'll go find a suitable Kalloy post somewhere.

  • If you google Extension Spring, it should send you towards somewhere you can get one in the required size.

  • Is a titanium post in a titanium frame a bad idea as well?
I have a (Planet X) titanium frame on the way, I can’t find much of information on the likelyhood of galvanic corrosion but think I should avoid aluminium. I have some titanium bolts for bottle cages and mudguards

  • online - rs components
in person - clerkenwell screws (might be worth double checking that with a call first though)
