  • For Moots-style Ti seatposts, is there anything you should/can put between the internal wedges and the 'loop' of the post (part 4 here).

The recommend silver grade antiseize for all the threads, but nothing for these surfaces. I'm getting a little bit of rotation/tilt when riding off-road. I know Jeff Jones used to recommend a little blue loctite between shims and his original ti bars. Would that work here?

    Things which might help

    1. Choose the post lay back which lets you clamp towards the front of the saddle
    2. High strength Loctite (e.g. 638)
    3. Lay off the pies
    4. Don't use a titanium seat post
  • Thanks. The layback's about right, pie consumption is way down and this just happened to be the only thing in the right diameter in the parts bin.

Have given everything another good clean and will have a go with the loctite. If that doesn't work, I'll go find a suitable Kalloy post somewhere.

  • Is a titanium post in a titanium frame a bad idea as well?
I have a (Planet X) titanium frame on the way, I can’t find much of information on the likelyhood of galvanic corrosion but think I should avoid aluminium. I have some titanium bolts for bottle cages and mudguards
