Brevet insulated is great for layering - worn over a jersey, under a wind/rainjacket, or under a winter jacket as another layer of insulation. Will fit rolled in a jersey pocket (just) if needed, v handy if you’re stopping on rides/audax.
- you might want to double check this; webpage says two rear pockets, but I can’t see them on the photos. My early version has a single rear concealed zipper valuables pocket.
Anyway, highly recommend :)

Mine is from 2 years ago and has the 2 zippered rear pockets - side access rather than top. It was wonderful for commuting early mornings last year, light and warm.

Can confirm the current one has two rear side pockets. They're pretty big as well.

Ah-ha, what threw me on the product page was ‘snap down‘ zippers that I couldn’t see on the pics, or stitch lines. Thanks for clearing up, nice detail.
‘The jacket has two accessories pockets of its own on the lower back, secured with snap down zippers’

FWIW I found the fit on the insulated jacket a bit weird - short all over and very high at the front - so I returned mine. My insulated gilet was a normal fit by comparison. This was a while back, so the newer ones may not have this problem.

Yep, same here on my original version - great on-bike fit - but this was made more generous on later versions
-
• #34985
Yeah, it probably doesn't help that I'm 6'5", so the front was halfway up to my nipples...

I have the M, great on bike fit (as in road riding) for winter but I'm not sure it isn't going to be a little on the tight side for commuting. 5'8 and 38" chest (but broad shoulders).

+1 on all the comments on this - I wear it a lot through winter, it's perfect for overnight audax kind of rides just above freezing point. Pockets aren't great - so I tend to wear a gilet with pockets over the top.

Apologies, I designed/developed that first one, and am a Rapha medium, but 6ft 3 with v long legs. I was usually quite good at making a call on this sort of thing, applying ‘if it fits me well, it’s wrong’ to bring things in line.
....Won a v strange Polartec award for it. Was a sort-of wardcraft-wizard wearing sunglasses trophy.

Well if you designed the gilet as well then hats off, that is a brilliant piece of kit
-

Yes, that came first, thank you - but can’t take all the credit, was working with a great development team too. All the early Brevet stuff came out of riding into and sometimes through the night. Not many people did that in the office, so was given more freedom, which was nice. Although the first Brevet Jersey (that came with the lightweight high-viz gilet) was nearly dropped so many times. Managed to break my wrist that spring so missed out riding BCM > PBP. .....a blessing now I look back

The ride where you broke your wrist on the way out of London and still rode to the coast and back before going to hospital?

Was there ever a women's insulated brevet jacket? Actually the women's Rapha stuff these days is a bit uninspiring. Disappointing, really.

Blame @chopsicle things went downhill when they left
-

Haha, yes, I was in the middle of nowhere and didn’t fancy getting cold, so rode for another 100k. Then went to work, before accepting it was definitely broken and wasn’t going to fix itself.
Happy days! :)

I had to do something with my best idea!
I think the closest is/was(?) the Souplesse Insulated Jacket, which had the same Polartec Alpha engineered around the garment. Perhaps there’s a Pro Team version coming this season?

Ha, I accept that I'm a bit of a
freakedge case size-wise! I love my insulated gilet anyhow. -

certainly looks like it from the promo shots... keenly anticipated here...

Don't think so, no. Which pisses Cycliste off no end every time I start raving about how brilliant mine is. Same with the gilet.

Same with the gilet.

I do have one of their Souplesse insulated gilets and it's one of the best bits of kit I own.
