James appears to have a deteriorating nervous condition, in his spine, that is causing him some issues with the muscles behind a certain point. This is evident in an unwillingness to jump, he's dragging himself up with his front legs when he wants to get onto something.
We are trying some arthritis drugs at the moment, but the vet thinks anti-inflamatories are going to be the way to go.
At 15 going on 16 he's high risk for the MRI (as it requires a general anaesthetic), not to speak of actual spinal surgery, so I think we're going to make him comfortable in his old age and see how things develop.
I know they're not immortal, and that this time always comes, but it's no fun.
Its a long shot but if your bet ends up prescribing Gabapentin let us know as we have a bunch left over from Fabric that I can easily drop round yours.
