Eh? If the drops are 1-2cm further away but then I put a shorter stem on the bars are going to be somewhat closer (I'm not doing the trig).
I'm just not that sensitive to slight changes in hand/arm position and I don't think 1-2cm will make any difference. I've been using bars that most people would find horrible on the tops so anything wider will be an improvement. I'm more worried about aerobars fitting and what the bar diameter feels like underhand. As it's a gravel bike I'll be changing position a lot more so it's even less of an issue than on the road.
Yeah, only the drops are further with the longer reach. But I'm also going to a wider bar and it's going from road to gravel so the stem length is going to get shorter anyway just to put me more upright but also because the wider bars will put the shifters further away.
