Yep, open-ended is probably a better description than walk-in for what I'm imagining. Ideally I'd hope that an 800mm wide glass screen in a 1300mm x 800mm shower tray, with a 300mm flipper panel would leave two 500mm gaps for me to squeeze my manly shoulders through.

Or belly, depending on how the diet's going...

As yet undetermined. It'll be on a plinth anyway, so I don't see the height as a terribly significant factor at present. I'll have to step up into the shower come what may, without significant re-engineering of the plumbing.

You’ll get some splash still, those flipper panels aren’t very effective in my opinion.
We have an 800mm panel with 300mm flipper on a 1500mm tray and get enough water escaping to be annoying - not so much with the overhead (unless bending over, ooh err) but the handheld goes everywhere.
I’d get a sliding door next time.

A bit late to this conversation but Greenwich Refuse Centre is pretty chilled, very quiet in the mornings and best of all accepts delivery by bicycle.

Kentish Town tip are ok, but jobsworth manager turned me away in a zipvan full of demolition waste because I hadn’t booked it in 24 hours before. The info that you had to do this was buried 4 pages deep on their crappy website. This is why there is flytipping. Tower Hamlets were cool with anything if you had a council tax bill. I dumped a whole lot of wood there once by opening the van doors and accelerating away.

Mrs Q once tried to get Hackney Council to remove a mattress, but they couldnt find her building. It was literally opposite the Hackney Council building.

My experience of living in Hackney was that HC were painful for everything.

If things go back to normal the recycling centre off Holloway Road was epic pre-covid. Almost a joy to use.

They caught me trying to get rid of a few tins of old paint once - had to bring them home again.

I was there last week and it's pretty much normal. You have to book the day before though.

Bit late to the shower chat but we have a 1200 x 820 wet room shower with a single screen (no flipper panel) and don't experience any splash outside the shower 'zone'. We only have an above head shower head though, no hose attachment.

Can highly recommend Abacus Infinity shower trays. They have a single fall towards the drain so don't require awkward ugly cuts and grout lines in the tiles leading into the drain like most other trays.

Oh I was just wondering if I could get all my pots and pans in it.

Studded out the bathroom. Just need to order some insulation for the roof now.

re: bedroom pic. I remember that stage. felt so far from home (even though we'd come such a long way by then.) it will get better !

All our fittings are crosswater, not really through choice, just 'brass, not shit' narrows the search field quite a lot. I did a lot of internet searching to know roughly what I was after, but in the end had a two-hour one-on-one appt with Guy at HE Olby (lewisham) to do some problem solving and see a few things in action. Bought basically everything but the bath through them in the end, a bit pricier than buying here and there on the internet but it sort of paid for itself when some things needed swapping/replacing.

I'll second HE Olby - very easy to deal with when there were a string of fuckups with our porcelain (first two bog pans arrived damaged, first sink had cosmetic problems, replacement was the wrong variant of the model we wanted), including giving us replacement taps because that was a better result than swapping the basin again.

In terms of brassware, Hudson Reed stuff is reassuringly solid, and not a silly price when you factor in the 10 year guarantee, which they're happy to stand behind. Obviously we'd have preferred the thermostatic mixer body not to crack, but they replaced the (£300ish) part on the basis of one phone call and emailed proof of purchase.
